Rumors are all over the internet that Zuck is on the brink of divorce. He turned 40 last year. Perhaps he’s having his first mid-life crisis. That would explain the shades.

I guess you could say it’s a self-correcting worldview then. Every nation that tells women that being a mother is worthless will eventually decline until it is easily taken over by some other country that doesn’t attack women for wanting to be moms instead of wage slaves.

Based on a false fallacy that there are too many people. This was never proven and it’s just not true.

In fact the real issue is that there are too many old people and not enough kids…

What is true is that we’ve never seen this ever - and our economic and political models are not designed for a shrinking consumer base…or an growing social expenditure either.

Japan had a TFR rate 2.16 in 1970 and has a rate now of 1.26. If by “handling” you mean “completely failing to come to grips with the situation”, then yes.
Please look up some facts before you post, rather than something you vaguely remember hearing.

I thought he meant Japan was doing a good job of managing the population decline without society or the economy collapsing. They’ve got some huge challenges for sure, but it does seem that in spite of being many years into official population decline, Japan’s still at least treading water for their economy and we’ve not seen any riots or social unrest, like is common in a lot of countries.

We can almost certainly learn a lot from Japan’s managing of their own population decline in the coming years. Especially since a quick Google says Taiwan’s TFR is 1.25, so basically identical to Japan, I suppose.

SidHoffman is on point. Despite their low birthrate the Japanese model of desourcing (putting their companies in foreign countries with foreign labor and foreign consumers) and generating income for themselves that way.

And robotics and some immigration.

As for the rest I’ll assume you agree.
