please excuse me showing off, but i wanted to share what my 9 year old daughter wrote me for mother’s day. her class was to write 10 things they loved about their mom. here is what my daughter wrote:
I love you because you help me with my homework all the time! When I’m sad you cheer me up. My hair is beautiful, thanks to you. I’m happy because you put in my beautiful earrings! I love when you read me a book before bed. You buy me new clothes when I need them. I want to say when you tickle me light and smoothly before bed, it makes me real happy. You keep me company when no one else will. You protect me when a bully bothers me! I love when you help me get ready for school. The best thing is your love. Love, S
we took my mom out to a nice lunch, but my real mother’s day present i didn’t share with her directly. i resolved to not let my anger/irritation at her character flaws (how she doesn’t take care of herself physically, how she twists memories to put herself in a more favorable light, etc) get in the way of my enjoying the time we still have together in light of the fact that her health is quickly going down hill. i was never outright rude to her, but irritation occasionally spilled out in other ways like impatience in my tone of voice.
any 2007 mother’s day happenings anyone would like to share? HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
