Hi guys, just had a question regarding motorcycle insurance.
My wife and I are immigrating back to my home country, and thus we’ve been frantically sorting out a heap of financial matters here. One of these things that we need to sort out is the motorbike insurance which, funnily enough, is expiring on the day we leave.
My question is - can we just not pay it since we won’t even be in the country anyway? Is there a law about mandatory insurance or anything?
insurance companies usually require you to let them know you are cancelling, or they usually auto renew you, at least in Canada and the United States. If you don’t pay it will lilely get cancelled by the insurance company for non payment and you may owe a small amount.
Id just call the number on the back of the insurance card and ask how to cancel.

Cheers mate! Yeah, will do it first thing tomorrow (our flight is in the afternoon!).
I was curious because I was sprung with a bill from the Government about mandatory health care one time. Don’t want debts/fines before we leave!

It won’t auto renew you here in TW. If you don’t pay it, then you won’t have insurance. You don’t need to call either.
My renewal came in and it says I need to pay before July 1st but there is writing in red that I’m covered up to February of next year when they will cancel it.
