+1 for scooter
That corner is a popular stop for bike riders who hang out there for a while having a smoke and watching other riders go by. Quite a few riders who come down or up the road and know the spectators there will try to impress their peers (as far as I can tell from the 15 minutes I spend there last time). I saw riders pass by, stop, turn back, and do it again. This would all be cool and perfectly OK without the other regular traffic on the road (buses, trucks, cars, bicyclists). I personally think that riding a bicycle there on a weekend is nuts because of the motorbikes there, but that’s their right. The divider in the middle is a hazard more than it is a safety features in my opinion. I saw a few riders seeing it a bit late and yanking their bikes at the last moment to avoid it. As I said in the accident on Hwy 9 thread, police needs to step in and find ways to slow them down to protect the rights of people living there and people who want to use the road without worrying about crazy biker dudes. I think there is no room for fast bikes and sports cars on Taiwan’s roads because there is just too much traffic and too much potential for accidents.
