hi everybody!
I’m from spain and next year i will be studing 6 months in taipei city, so I have some questions:
Wich is the best way to rent an apartment -4 bedrooms (via web/ or you recoment us to stay first on a hotel, and once we get there serch for one)?
I use to surf in Spain and i listened that here you have some great spots to surf but difficult acces (we know that buses won’t allow us to travel with the boards)
talking about party: in spain and europe we have free parties (raves) in forests…, where there is no police, no one controling you and we listen //drum and base, dubstep, hardtek, reggae, frenchcore, tribe.//
is there something similar here with these tipes of music (I don’t care if it’s a club, but I must listen these music!)?
Finally: searching google I saw that in taiwan if they catch you with drugs (possession) they trate you as a trafficant and they can kill you!!! - IT’S THAT TRUE?¿?¿???¿?
I like hash and weed, and if I get mdma to party will be good too!, and here in Spain if police catch you smoking, means a fee about 300€, but NOT prison or kill you!
Is it usual to see people smoking marihuana/hash here, in streets, houses… or its strange?

Hi Ekatombe. Sorry but we ain’t really going to discuss drug use amongst foreigners here on an Internet forum. The short answer is yes, the authorities are pretty severe on this, many of us have friends/acquaintances in prison for drug related offenses. The police tend to show up at raves and drag people off for urine testing. Please do not turn up and wander round clubs asking where the drugs is at…you’ll get yourself into a world of trouble.
?¿ what are you talking about men?, I’m trying to look for what I like, I don’t care if you are bald and bored. NEVER said that people in taiwan is uncool, I like his culture so that’s the way I’m coming!
I think world would cry more for me rather than for you (a fat and bald men) with no social life and criticise the posts!

Did you mix up Thailand for Taiwan?
Thailand is probably where you want to go not Taiwan.

No, they won’t kill you for possession of drugs. If you are caught with a small amount of weed, you will probably get ordered to go on some drug re-education course. If you are caught growing your own weed or dealing drugs, you can expect a very heavy prison sentence.
Yea, please go to Thailand. It’s more hedonistic than Taiwan. Although the laws are just as severe for drug use (if not more). I don’t condone your habits, but please be careful and don’t end up another drug statistic.

It is a tyranny to control what I do at my own spare time. If I do something or say something that doesn’t hurt no one and this thing called the government wants to lock me up???

Forumosa has a rule against promoting illegal activities. Telling someone where to obtain illegal drugs would count as that.
The OP had to be warned that Taiwanese law takes drugs very seriously and deals with users and dealers in a far harsher manner than in most Western countries. The OP seemed unaware of what a serious issue drugs are, as well as how the local media like to paint foreigners are drug-addled good-for-nothings.

I agree, but sadly it’s still against the law. The solution: change the law. You’re Taiwanese: you can vote, write to your legislator, protest unjust laws. We foreigners can’t.

I don’t believe in any law that violates personal freedom.
It is common sense to not hurt people and steal other people’s property. Other than that, most laws are not there to help people. They are made to protect interest groups and suppress.
And the interest groups are the politicians and big corps.
If writing to some legislator will work then I won’t be here b*tching about personal freedom. Politicians don’t have our best interest at heart, they have THEIR best interest at heart. Just look at the freak show in the parliament here or any government in the world. Spread the word and discuss this on the Internet is the most effective route for me right now. Most people I meet in real life have been brain washed beyond reasoning.
Censoring the Internet is the governments’ way to control the media again cos they know people are starting to turn away from the main stream media. I don’t watch the stupid TV anymore.
I don’t mean what I say about my previous comments about TW and foreigners in general. Just frustrated that it is 2012 and it is still so much BS.
