Tada!
I’ve finally got a place of my own here and I’m moving out of my friend’s place.
Unfortunately the new apartment is unfurnished, and I’ve bought a whole stack of 2nd hand furniture. Now how do I get it to my place?
Blue truck? How much are they? Can you hire by the hour? (I live on the 5th floor, no elevator so carrying stuff up by myself could suck…)
Removalists? Are these guys a ripoff? Can anyone recommened a company? Do they take MasterCard?
You should be able to rent a blue truck easy enough. Might have to get a few friends to help you carry everything up the stairs though. If you hire people, make sure everything is sealed and documented, and watch them move it. The last time my friend hired movers, they stole some of her valuables.
Don’t know about renting your own truck, but if you go with a mover, beware; some of them will try to charge more if you live on a high floor in a walk up.
Movers charge by truck size, usually 3-5k for a medium/large truck. Not a lot if you’re faced with the prospect of lugging a refrigerator or a wshing machine up five flights of stairs in 30 degree heat!
There was a guy named Steven who posted a while back advertising an English friendly moving service. Seem to remember some people posting positive responses. Take a look here:
Thanks guys. I think I might be forced to call Steven. Almost all my friends here are female and I’m too much of a gentleman to ask them to help and not enough of a man to do it myself…
