Its here now- Firefox 1.0.3
How can I tell which version of Mozilla I’m currently using?
I missed tech-wiz class.
At the top of your screen…click on “help”…this will open up a drop-down window…click on “About Mozilla firefox”…this will then show you the version you are using.
Also…an easy way…look in the top right hand corner of your window…next to the book…do you see a red or green dot?
Red means an update is needed…green means all is cool.
Thanks.
But I downloaded it and now have FOUR shortcuts on my desktop. I deleted one, but I can’t delete the rest. :s
I knew this was too difficult for me …
Doesn’t Firefox like Yahoo! mail? Very often (but not always) Yahoo! mail opens up incomplete or with skewed columns etc. in Firefox, and often it’s not possible to delete e-mails (it works for a bit, refreshes the page, but then the messages you wanted to delete are still there …). O.k., I’m running 1.0.2. and my little upper-right-hand-corner dot is red, which I now know means I need an update, will that fix it? Thanks, Xpet.
No, it won’t. Just installed the update and still have the same trouble with Yahoo! mail. Anybody know if there’s a solution to this problem? Thanks!! Xpet.
I am having a similar problem except it’s with Hotmail. Each time I attempt to login I am asked to Match a Picture, usually some text and letters. This is to ensure that and automated program is not attempting to login. I thought that it might be an issue with my cookies but I have them enabled. I also tried other browsers such as Netscape and Internet Explorer with not luck all with cookies enabled. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so how did you solve it.

Hmm… I don’t have any problem with Yahoo mail.
I remember it used to look a little weird in Firefox a few months ago, but not anymore. I don’t know if it was a Yahoo! problem or a Firefox bug, but I don’t see it anymore.
And I can delete e-mails just fine. ![]()
Even Hotmail looks better in Firefox these days. Surprisingly, given Microsoft’s record of serving intentionally distorted webpages to alternative browsers.

Andre, thanks. And you didn’t change any settings in-between or tweaked around a little? Thanks, Xpet.
Holy snapping ducks!
I just installed firefox as a last ditch effort to fix a problem I’m having with browsing.
Man it’s so much faster than IE. If I didn’t see it myself I wouldn’t have believed it.
I think I’m sold!

More info on this:[quote]Firefox has security flaws in JavaScript code
Posted on : Tue, 10 May 2005 00:38:01 GMT | Author : Philip Green
Firefox’s tall claims that it is the most secure web browser on the market received a serious blow when it was discovered that the browser had two security flaws, which could be exploited to a hacker’s advantage.
Mozilla Foundation was aware of these ‘holes’ on May 2 itself and had tried its utmost to keep the facts a secret. But in this techno savvy world any secret is no longer safe. The confidential report was leaked out to security organizations like the Danish security firm Secunia and the French Security Incident Response Team (FrSIRT). Secunia has chosen to accord a ‘critical’ status to these flaws in Firefox. The firm added that the exploit code is already in wide circulation online.

Firefox 1.04 is now available.
By the way, you don’t necessarily need to disable Javascript on 1.03 to solve the security bug. Just do: Edit --> Preferences --> Web Features and unclick the box that says “Allow Web Sites to Install Software.” Actually, I recommend unclicking that anyway - it’s a feature that always made me nervous.
cheers,
DB
Where do you find that? Its not on my Firefox “edit” menu.
tools>options>web features

Mine neither. Look under tools -> options -> web features.
It may be located there for you.
I did the 1.0.4 update this pm.
Thanks chaps. Found it, but the box was not ticked.
Just out. Contains an important security fix.
Thanks jlick.
Maybe we could keep all the Firefox update posts to one Firefox update thread. People would notice them anyway when they used the “new posts since last visit”.
