No, don’t laugh – that’s the name. On the Wulai Road just before you reach the Zhongzi turnoff. Amazing view over the river, pleasant decor and food that’s a fair bit better than the usual tourist slop you get up there. We got grilled trout (from the village of Fushan away up at the head of the valley) that was very fresh and sweet, mala noodles, wild mushroom soup, all very tasty.
The owner/cook’s real job is as a backing singer for Jay Chou.
Its not really the kind of place I would normally recommend, but as finding something decent to eat up that way at a reasonable price is well-nigh impossible these days, I thought I’d give it a wee plug.
I don’t go there (Wulai) much anymore but that sounds really good. Agree on the tourist food(not). Any more detailed directions? I get the “On the Wulai Road” but the just before has me puzzled. Maybe because I’m not driving but doing other things. ?
Also, the trout (from the village of Fushan away up at the head of the valley)! It must be his private, yes? I don’t see any distributor for them in Taipei as of yet.

There’s a turnoff on the left about halfway up the road clearly marked for Zhingzi. His place is just before it. The fish farm has been there for many many years. You can either catch them yourself or just buy 'em.
