Actually, when I have discussed this with Chinese friends I have learned that some of them, too, get reactions from eating food with MSG. It was a Chinese physician in the USA who first wrote an article on the topic of what later came to be called ‘Chinese restaurant syndrome’ or the unpleasant side-effects that some of us get when we eat things with MSG.
The Chinese family I am staying with in Tai pei will not go near MSG. They, too, get sick.
