I know you can create a conference in Yahoo messenger. Then you can invite people you want to join.
Can you do it in MSN messenger? I thought it was possible, but I couldn’t find the functions for that.

MSN uses Netmeeting for that
start->programs->Accessories->communication->netmeeting

in msn 6 when you have a chat window open there is a big spanking icon that says invite
