Except that most of the cam copies of new movies are shot in non-US theaters, so the studios worry that simultaneous releases make it easier to pirate the films. You’re right though, that the studios try to shunt the burden of piracy control on the consumer.

Why is Taiwan listening to the Americans on the region business. Anyway, isn’t Autrailia against region coding.
The greedy MOF tell us that region coding protects theaters and even local marketers who license the product but what about twenty year old TV shows or how about shows that will not generate enough interest to even sell overseas.
Dr. Who, Montey Python, Fawlty Towers will only interest Americans, British and Europeans. Why region code them. They’ll never sell in Taiwan. Incedentally, anyone with these shows who lives in S. Taiwan, please PM me. I’ll lend you my legally bought friends collection.
