i’ve been teaching this kid drums for a year. it’s been slow but he’s really getting to where he can accompany me. not that i’m a drummer but i know the basics and speak drummer-ese(drums were my first instrument for a long time but i never took them far like a real drummer). anyway, this kid has some ability and i’ve taught him a lot of things about accommpianment.
mom hits me with the bomb that this kid wants to switch to guitar. our whole relationship has been rhythm. she asked me if i thought he should switch and i said he’s gone too far into it. he really ought to keep going.
and anyway i don’t feel like teaching him guitar. so he’s sticking with drums. i guess i did what a teacher should do.
i had another parent who wanted their guitar boy to get english lessons instead of guitar. same thing. i don’t feel like switching. so i said i’d teach him guitar in english and that satisfied them. me too. i hate using chinese to explain music.
no rant. just thinking with my keyboard again.
