Muslim convert shows his Christmas spirit

Trust me, the feeling is mutual.

You also have to consider what it is that draws such radical converts. I seem to recall that Richard Reid aka The Shoebomber had converted late in life. He had come from a broken home, lowly educated, done time inside for petty crimes. His life was going nowhere, and he needed something to empower him. We know what happened next.
The radical preachers know who to target, the disaffected, the unemployed and whatever. I guess from someone of low intellect the messages of blame towards the US, Jews etc can eventually strike a chord. The whole David vs Goliath (excuse the pun)mentality kicks in and they want to do something about it (however misguided that may be).

In my experience, this is not real islam. Many of my closest friends back home are muslims, not one is a radical or holds any hatred towards the West. For example, they follow the idea that you cannot force your views, if you convert somebody to islam with duress, then that person will not be a proper muslim. Something I cannot say for Christianity.

These are the Muslims that I hope raise their voice and guide their religion in this century. It just isn’t happening quick enough though IMO.

Where presently are Christians using duress to force somebody to convert? I hope this isn’t the old ‘Crusades’ argument…

Read The FBI Affidavit On The Would-Be Mall Terrorist

This is not a nice individual here.
Warning - dialogue is heavily ebonicized. Bad language is included.

Hat tip to Sweetness & Light.

I have not seen the corresponding amount of outrage over this incident as displayed over the stupid bumblings of “Kramer.”
And Kramer didn’t suggest hand grenades in a crowded mall on Dec 22nd.

Well I have yet to meet a muslim who goes door to door to preach a message. That maybe different in North America, but back home many Christians do just that.
And unless TV has lied to me, many of those go around the US preaching fire and brimstone.

Wannabee Mall Bomber Made a Martyrdom Video as a 'last statement" for his intended homicide spree to show his devotion to allah.

“This may be my last will and testament, the last words I have spoken to those who know me, to those who do not know me. My name is Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef. I am 22 years of age. I am from America and this tape is to let you guys know, who disbelieve in Allah, to let the enemies of Islam know, and to let the Muslims alike know that the time for jihad is now…Be strong, oh Mujahaideen. Be strong oh brothers who want to fight for jihad…This is a warning to those who disbelieve, that we are here for you, and I am ready to give my life.”

Twisted waste of DNA.

No? Then what Muslims were you referring to with the following statement:

I don’t care for anyone proselytizing, just so you know, but going door to door is not using duress to force someone to convert.

No? Then what Muslims were you referring to with the following statement:

The guy arrested in Illinois is a Muslim. He planned to attack holiday shoppers with hand grenades, “waging jihad against civilians” were his own words. It’s not going to help Muslims in general, with a guy like that being a nutjob in the name of his/their religion, to be accepted and embraced in a community they want to move into. It scares people. It’s human nature. Those are the Muslims I was referring to with my earlier statement, like the guy in Illinois. What he did affects shit for the rest of them.
Do you want to twist my words some more, or do you have another question?

I wonder about this argument. If I were a “moderate nonviolent” or a nonpracticing Muslim, I would be more than a little irked that someone would suggest I put my ass on the line so that a “voice of opposition” could be heard, which would ostensibly make you feel better about the situation, but might result in drawing attention to myself that I did not want.

You have the right, at least in America to not say shit. And I like that right…although I don’t practice it much. :unamused:

Although my personal experiences have been pleasant with muslims, I feel there’s cause for concern with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad preaching intolerance to an entire nation of muslims. Is it fair to say that there is a greater separation of politics and religion in the predominantly christian nations?

I agree on your point about proselytizing. However, if we take the example again of those who preach about eternal damnation if you are not saved… surely this is a fear tactic. The use of fear creates an environmment of uncertainty and leads people to make a rash decision without a clear mind, therefore (in my book)that counts as duress.
