Kidding aside, I think asking someone to apologize for the actions of their ancestors is ludicrous ā and utterly useless to either the historical āvictimsā or their descendents.
However, I have often felt if I had the chance to apologize directly (perhaps in Heaven!) to such a group, it would be the Native Americans. Quite honestly, what happened to them is something Iāve always felt a bizarre genetic guilt for. I know such a feeling is utterly useless (and a modernday Native American would probably kick my ass if I said such a thing outloud). Nevertheless, the feeling is there.
