My ARC went in the washer!

Hope I’m in the right forum…

Left my card in a pocket and it got washed… front lamination is intact but the back where notations are made is pretty bad. How much will it cost to get another one?

Sounds like the time I dropped my passeport in a river in Australia; what a mess! Seems like I remember someone saying NT$250, but that’s not gospel. Shouldn’t cost much. Be interested to hear how much it does cost once you have it replaced. Be sure to post.

Good luck,
CK

Thanks CK. My father in law helps me with this stuff so if it’s pricey, everyone will be snickering about how clumsy I am, but NT250, I can handle. I’ll be sure to post the actual cost.

No replacements, I hear they just take you straight to CKS these days and put you on the next plane outta here.

Wait… before anyone calls me a schnook again, I am kidding.

Schnook

Why don’t you go to the Foreign Affairs Police Station where you got the ARC in the first place and ask them? You don’t need to consult a lawyer for matters such as this . . . . . and I doubt that the posters on this website would have better information than the Police would be able to provide on such basic common sense questions . . . . . .

I just went back to the police station to get a new one when I lost mine, charged me $3000 again for a new one.
I seem to remember I accidentally washed mine too, seemed to be ok, just cleaner.

Well, I’m glad braxtonhicks posted this here

Some of us do like to consult with one another before asking “basic common sense” questions to the police and the like. Hopefully we’ll be able to ask them better questions as a result. And we’ll be able to save ourselves some time and effort thanks to the experience of others

I did not think to go to the police first. I expect that walking in to ANY governtment office (even one whose mandate is to serve the relatively few foreign residents who live here) with a simple, obvious question will be met with a blank stare and a suggestion that I line up with all the other people with simple, obvious questions.

Clearly, I have issues with beaurocracy. I’d bet “other posters” here also - especially a beaurocracy whose native language is not mine.

Now, I’m going to post my own basic common sense question here about my ARC problem. Have a nice day
