I’m very confused. I had a thread in here called “Loving strays/Dog meat restaraunt” and now it seems to be gone.
I let my dogs out into the field across from my house this morning…like I always do. And sometimes I headed back into the house first, but left the door open so they could come on there own. I’ve been doing this for over a year. Anway…I’m in my house and I hear a dog screaming bloody murder…I go out and search around…don’t find anything. I see my neighbors outside…they don’t say anything. I don’t see my dogs…but it’s a very very big field. I go back inside…and a while later I go look for them…and they’re gone. I come back in. Go and look again. Still no sign. I stop near my neighbors who run the breakfast shop…they look at me and wave…but don’t say anything. And I’m thinking that if they saw anything they’d say something. I walk over and ask them anyway…and they say “Oh yeah, we saw them take your dogs away this a while ago.” :fume:
They also mention that the dog that they’ve been feeding…that lives in front of their breakfast shop…for the last 5 years…was also taken away. And they laughed.
I asked them if they thought it was funny. And then they didn’t say anything. I’d love to say “I’d like to watch your kids get kidnapped, raped and killed…then tell you about it and laugh…and see how’d you react.” But I buy my breakfast there…
Anyway…I’m off to the Chung-Li dog pound…one of my dogs is trained to attack if someone tried to kidnap it…I’m hoping they didn’t hurt it. Maybe I’ll find the other stray that went missing a week ago while I’m there. Oh, and I was fired from my job yesterday…it’s turning out to be a great week.
Did your dogs have collars on? Do these twats just lift everything? Can’t they even get this right? Sometimes I think this is just a virtual country and I am actually in a warehouse in Croydon.

Mordeth, that’s just the worst kind of news. I hope you find them alright at the pound. As for jobs, I know the Frobel schools in Daxi and Taoyuan city need teachers who can start Monday.

I’m assuming you use the links in your email notifications to read the replies and that’s why you never noticed the thread was moved, as the link takes you directly to the thread, and not the forum index. I put the thread in Rescues and Adoption because it appeared that yourself and Stray Dog were going to attempt to rescue the dog in question. Mind me, you’re not even sure that’s where the dog is, and with the recent news about your other dogs, I’m thinking the the dog catchers are likely to have taken that dog too… I will let you know if I move the thread back to the main forum. Let’s wait to see what happens first.

That’s horrible news, mordeth, I really hope you find your dogs. My thoughts are with you.
Well I went to the pound. My girlfriend insisted that we take a taxi as to not waste time asking for directions. So it cost me 500 per dog and 1000 for the taxi. I am still sick from riding in the car (motion sickness).
I heard that the Tapei county pound is bad…and the pound that I went to is for all of Taoyuan. And it was very…nice. It was clean and beautiful…and puppies were playing in the yard. Too bad it’s beside the ocean in a place that not many could ever find.
I got my dogs back. And life goes on. The people who took my dogs said that someone phoned about them. And they only took my dogs and one other…even though there are many other strays around. There is one fat very manly looking woman who hates dogs…I’m betting it was her.
The one other dog that they took…is a little black dog that’s been living in front of my community…for over 3 years! It has deep love for the breakfast store people…and their children…as well as the barber shop people. It’s not a friendly dog…and that’s why I didn’t take it home with me (since I don’t have an emotional attachment)…but it loved those people…and often would be seen playing with their children.
I asked both shops if they wanted me to save the dog for them. Since they’ve been feeding it and playing with it for years. They said “No thanks…don’t bother.” which is equal to “Let it die.”.
I looked for the black stray and no luck. I looked through their pictures of dogs they’ve taken in…and no luck there either. The taxi driver said that dog restaraunts don’t take in strays…they have special places that breed dogs just for food. But I highly doubt the owner would buy from a breeder when he can just take in a friendly healthy black dog from near his house.
I’m so happy it worked out Mordeth… at least for your dogs. I do feel terrible for the little black stray… but… self control… got to… have… self… control… can’t… save… everyone… sigh…
I visited a few pounds where strays were kept. On average for 1 month before they are sent to better if no ones picks them up.
What i saw in your video was a couple of dogs which were carrying this neck thing avoiding to bite themselves. correct me if i am wromng, but what are the odds that those pound staff will first give medecine to a sick dog before killing it?
I must say that all dogs looked in good shape, so could it not be possible some of them were kept for a while waiting for their owners to pick them up. you sounded so melodaramatic in your tube.
be happy, you got your beloved ones back. pitty for the others. People are even less animal than we think no? Taiwan is not different from the rest of the world when it comes to strays. except… there seem to be many more…
I asked at the pound they said the older dogs get one week. And the younger ones a bit longer. But they have dogs coming in pretty steadily now. And with limited space you can only take in so many new without clearing out some of the old. The dogs you see all look healthy because the ones that are too skinny or have skin disease are put down right away…since it isn’t worth the effort for dogs that don’t stand a chance of being adopted. So that’s why the dogs all look healthy…because they are the cream of the crop. And the rest are all just put down.
But I don’t understand why they would bother treating dogs at such a place, and two of them have obviously had some kind of treatment or they wouldn’t be wearing those plastic collar things.
Either way, as horrible as that place is, its certainly a lot better-looking than I’d have thought. Or maybe that’s just the part the potential adopters or people looking for their pets get to see?
I always wonder if the person who has to put them down, maybe 10 - 20 a day, has still a heart , or is still a pet lover.
My heart broke twice when a dog and later a cat of mine received the final shot being sick to dead.
A job is a job, but damn, how does this guy heads back home to his wife and kids each day.
