I’m working out a sort of New Year’s adventure resolution. 2011 was my dance club year. I hit almost every dance club a couple of times and got a sense of the clubs that are worth visiting again, picked some favorites, and managed to see most of the major expat watering holes in between.
I did it in part because I needed some outlet for exercise, and dancing is something I do moderately well. Also, I was more or less single, so I found the best chick pickup spots (There are four if you can dance alright, and there is one if you have honky hooves.).
I need a new night venue. I want to see a different crowd, do something a bit more relaxed, and meet a different stock of women. I was considering lounge bars, but I honestly don’t know what their appeals or common features are. How is cruising lounge bars?
I used to like trekking to late-night jazz bars and cafes, but pickings here haven’t been the most inviting. I went to one event at Hook that was in that vein, but found nothing else.
And last I considered live music venues, which I know least. Where do the punk chicks and metal heads in this country go?
There’s really no single place where they hang out but there are usually lots of metal and a few punk shows happening each month. Have a look at my website for a list of what’s going on around the country : GigGuide.tw

I’m dating a metal head, but she goes to the big venue shows. Thanks for the link.

I believed you would post some suggestions [/quote]
Four dance clubs where the atmosphere and music are best: Club Space, MiCasa, Room18, Myst.
Two places where it’s easy to pick up chicks: Babe18, Roxy99.
The worst dance clubs are Luxy, Lava (or whatever the one on the corner by Room18 is), and Spark.
No dance club event in Taipei is worth 1000NT, so I just saved your 5,000 or 6,000 NT.
