Did NIA give you a reason why you must return to Taiwan within 3 mths? I think I might know the reason why they keep insisting that you be in Taiwan before you renounce your Original Citizenship and getting your TARC. I just went over this old thread (Post#1182) where I was applying for my Citizenship. I had just got my Candidature Certificate (back then, we had to renounce first before getting Taiwan Nationality) and was waiting to renounce, it was when the HHR official warned me not to leave Taiwan as this would require me to get a new PCC from my Original Country. PCCs have a validity of 3 mths from the date of issue. Since you’re out of the country right now, they probably have no idea what crime you may have commited in AUS and are just protecting their own asses by asking you to come back.
I may be wrong in my assumption (just making an educated guess) but I think it is about the PCC/CCR (Police Clearance Check/Clean Criminal Record).
