Navigating the CKS airport

I don’t know if there are any airport busses from Panchiao, but if you go to the train station and take the train from Panchiao to Taipei, there are some airport busses outside Taipei Train Station.
Looking for some advice… what is the best way to get from Banchiao to CKS airport. I know I can take a taxi but I’m wondering where in Banchiao can you get an airport express bus? I’ve seen them at the airport but don’t know where to get one in Banchiao. If anyone knows where, how much and how long it takes to get to the airport I would appreciate the info. Thanks.
I found some links from goole.

Da4 Yio3 Bus 大有巴士, the fee for adults is NTD130.

And here you can find out which stops the bus stops…

Hope it’ll be useful.

I think I saw airport buses at the bus station next to Banqiao Railway Station.

Hi…I am leaving Taiwan to go to the US in a few days. I am going back alone and having been here for a few months I only have vague memories of the CKS airport’s interior. I ordered a ticket online as well, so that might make things slightly more difficult, considering that I will need to talk to someone about getting my boarding pass (hopefully someone that can speak English!). Is the airport easy enough to navigate? Will I be able to find someone who speaks English to help me? I just don’t want to get stuck here, is all, so any help would be appreciated.

Oh, the flight takes off at 8:15 am. I live near ShiDa so I am going to try to find a taxi outside of my apartment…how much time should I allow myself to get there and navigate through the airport?

Thanks.

No problem finding English speakers at the airport. I have never met anyone at check-in that doesn’t speak English. Most, if not all, ot the signs are also in English.
Nothing to worry about.

NT$1,000 for a taxi to the airport. Ideal thing would be to book it the night before. Getting a taxi off the street may be a little more expensive (especially on the meter).

Although you booked online presume you have the ticket in hand, either paper or e-ticket, if so checking in should be simple. If not and you need to pickup the ticket at the airport make sure you know where, and make sure of the ticket counter opening times. Ohh and lastly make sure you know which terminal you are flying out of as well.

The airport shouldn’t be that difficult to navigate, just make sure you get to the right terminal, depending on what airline you take. Then look for the airline’s check-in counter (there is a board displaying those).

I would plan to be at least an hour early, better 1.5 hours. Travel time in the early morning would be around 30-45 minutes from Guting. I guess you could make it if you leave at 6:30am only but if you want to be on the safe side leave at 6:00am.

Knowing which terminal to go to is important. This will depend on your airline. Make sure you tell the driver, but check on the signs as you come into the airport to make sure. FInding out you are at the wrong terminal is a tad time consuming, as the links between the two are not that clear.

I thought the NT$1,000 trip to the aiport was a standard and irrespective of what the meter said?

HG

I will be flying with Northwest…no idea which terminal that will be. Also, I have an e-ticket, so where would I go to get the actual boarding pass. In the US they had these little machines where you inserted your credit card to get the pass…is it the same here?

As for the taxi, are there any companies that have English speaking representatives/drivers that you would recommend?

I truly appreciate the help!

Check-in on time if you fly US. those damn new regulations are strict and most of Taiwanees are not aware. You might need extra time.

As for a taxi, if you do not live far from a hotel, ask their help…

You need to find the check-in counter, that’s where you get the boarding pass. The counters are listed in association with the flight number / departure time. The counters are numbered and the terminals are not that big, so it’s easy to find - if you are at the right terminal. Check the ticket or itinery if you have one, often they do list the terminal on there.

Northwest is listed to depart from Terminal 1 but make sure to check yourself! Since you are flying to the US I suggest you leave early, 6:00am or before that.

If you’re in terminal 1, make sure you bottle some of that CKS smell. As they renovate its going away - it still fills me with all sorts of nostalgia when I smell it.

It is indeed terminal one, thanks.

Terminal one has a BBK in the basement and a Au Bon Pain / Prete a Manger place on the left. Don’t go through immigration before eating, there is nothing inside.

If you’re early for your flight (CKS is a surprisingly lax and fast airport), you will have no problems. There are tons of people there who speak english everyone ecxept possibly the janitors and they probably can too. Also if you are in the wrong terminal it’s no big deal they have a little train thingy that goes from terminal 1-2 and back.

Also about getting out there. You can get a driver, though you need a number as around. Or you can order a Taxi. OR if you are near Taipei main any way, or you don’t mind getting there, there are buses that run straight from (in front and a little to the west on chung shiow) the trainstation are to the airport.

Also I just discovered, if you want a cheap taxi, go to that bus terminal, and taxi drivers from the airport and Touyen who have driven someone to Taipei hang out there hoping to catch a fair back out to Touyen (where the airport is). You can get a cab for $300-400nt out to the airport from there.

And if there aren;t any of the cab dudes from touyen you can catch the bus. But the taxi dudes are always there… I usually ignore them but was tired last time I flew out and thought I would hear out ‘cheap taxi man’ for once. He told me you can always get cheap taxi’s to touyen from there  they already charged the pants off of someone to take them to Taipei… they’ll take chump change on the way back since they are going that way anyway (got a ride to taipei from the airport once for the same reason for 200nt)

Good luck and Happy Travels!

I live in Jubei and catch that Northwest flight frequently. I have a car pick me up at 5am. Yes it is a little farther but if you get to CKS with only an hour the line to check bags and get a boarding pass at NWA can drive you crazy. Many Taiwanese seem to bring boxes and boxes of stuff and oversized suitcases. The line can snake a long way. So either get up early, check in and then relax over breakfast or sleep a little bit longer, get to the airport and see an unmanaged line that will increase your heart rate and spew all kind of acidic juices into you while you stress on why it is taking so long. All that BEFORE you get on a long flight.

Your choice.

Is there a certain number you call to have them pick you up? Do they speak English?

If the answer for both of these questions is yes, please give me that number! Otherwise, I will be walking around searching for a stray cab…hopefully there will be some lurking outside of the night clubs.

They do indeed run from there, and stop at a few places before the freeway. Here is the information from the web page Dragonbabe found:

大有中正機場線 Airbus Banqiao-Taoyuan Airport service:

I took the bus from Taoyuan Airport to Banqiao, (getting off at the Rear of Old Station stop on Zhongshan Road), and it took about the same time as it would to Taibei City (50 minutes or more).

I was on the Guoguang (“Kuokuang”) bus the other day and it stopped in Banqiao at some 1960s tragic, deserted bus station just across the bridge from TPE Main Station… it was pretty big. I think it was on Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Road…

If you leave near Shida, Roosevelt is always full of cabs, any time of the day.

But, I recommend the MTR to TPE Main Station and the bus - Guoguang (Kuokuang) to TPE Terminal One. Especially at 6 a.m., it’s a breeze.

Sorry to hear you’re flying NWA. I hope you didn’t get ripped off online. Tickets on a US Carrier on their website are way more expensive than going via a travel agent. UA tried to charge me $1240 to go home for Thanksgiving next month, but going through my travel agent netted me a $830USD fare, although my tickets list my fare as $1240USD
