Need an allergist...my digestive system is wacky

I’m looking for a good allergist in Taipei…I think I’ve developed some sort of lactose intolerance.

any suggestions?

…has anyone else had a hard time digesting milk or meat here? I’ve never had a problem until about a year ago…and now every time I eat dairy products (or fatty meat), my stomach blows up like a balloon. It’s really annoying, but the doctors I’ve visited just look at me with a half-bored look and say, “don’t eat beans.”

…and I don’t eat beans!

Many many Asians are lactose intolerant. I can’t believe you couldn’t find a product like Lact-Aid to use if/when you want dairy. The other solution, of course, is stop eating dairy products - doh!

Bodo

Try some of the vsrious Yogurt products on the 7-11 or grocery store cooler shelf. This is a good way to introduce the local digestive bacteria strains into your belly.
I seem to have a problem with the local bananas here and this is the first time for that problem. I think I’ve heard others say the same thing about the bananas.

You’ll find a fre different brands/marques of yogurt drinks.
Start with the ‘Yoplait’ brand and see if that helps. Then try some of the others. Check the dates of the bottles and try to use the newest you find.
Good luck.

thanks for the suggestion…I bought some yogurt last night and it was advertised as “beer” yogurt or something like that.

hmmmm…

seriously, though, I’ve been avoiding dairy as much as possible, but I still find myself constantly bloated.

…maybe it’s because I’m breathing too much toxic air when I’m outside!! Or maybe I just have a wacky digestive system. I never have problems when I travel, though. Never.

All dairy products here have lactase added to them so it’s not lactose intolerance from Taiwanese dairy products you’re suffering from.

No mean to offend, Athlete, but I presume youre American, surely no other country has an “allergist” in its medical armoury. In a hospital directory, where does one locate an allergist? Perhaps just before an appendicist but after an addictionist?

Although I think what Athlete really needs may be an internist who specializes in digestive dis-orders.

Agreed. Nicely back to the Chinese BTW.

I’m having fun with the name. I do think you yanks have the best and the worst of the language, If I could get away with sounding like Johnny Cash the rest of my days, I for one would be very happy. However, introduce me to your herbal allegist, or your mate, “he’s Randy”, I’m going to have to laugh.
