There’s a webpage on Tony’s about their electronic drums. I haven’t seen any at other music stores in Taipei, even used at the store near Ximen Ding that sells used amps and guitars. Really, I think Tony’s music is the best bet.

I don’t remember seeing any used electronic drums there except for one hanging up on the wall near the desk on the first floor. I was going to buy it myself because it costs less than NT$1000, but I decided not to because it’s so old that it connects to the serial printer port of a computer. Perhaps it’s compatible with your TRS-80 or Commodore 64?
Well, here’s the page for second hand Midi and electronic drums. http://www.atbmusic.com/midi2.htm And tell them to give you a discount. They just might, you know.
What shop’s that, twocs? I’d like to check it out.
On Chunghua Rd right across from foreign affairs police station, bit north of Hankou St. To get there by MRT, I think you can get out at exit 5 and then walk north a couple of blocks. The store is on your left. Guitars and keyboards are their main products, but they do have a small selection of used amps and music gear.
OK. Cheers.
I’m a bit late here, but anyway…
Most large (and even some smaller ones) music shops I went to in Kaohsiung had at least one electric drumkit, so i’m sure they must be even more plentiful in Taipei.
If you’re looking for recommendations for a specific model, the Yamaha DTXPRESS (now version III) is the most popular and widely available in Taiwan. Great kit, I have one. Brand new they’re around 30-40 000NT, 2nd hand could be had from about 20K (Mine was second hand, bought about 3 years ago for about 20K). Mine (a DTXPRESS version I - the new ones have a lot more features and samples) is still going strong, after all the abuse I’ve put it through (I’m a very heavy-handed, hard-hitting drummer) which says a lot about the quality.
Does anyone want mine? it’s a Yamaha DD-65 if you want to look it up. Everything is working fine, almost brand new, hardly used. I want to sell it because it’s been hardly used, and I don’t have the coordination. I’ll also throw in a USB->MIDI cable (called U2MIDI made by CME, doesn’t seem to like 64bit windows) that’s work $800. Everything that came with it, including power supply for $5000. Bought it for $8000-9000 a year ago.
