I’m trying to organise a trip to Taipei (via Japan) towards the end of the year. I’ll be flying from Australia to Osaka on frequent flyer points and will have to buy a ticket for the Osaka - Taipei leg. However, I just looked on www.zuji.com and got a quote for $480USD (economy). Is there a cheaper way to fly?
Can anyone recommend a local Japanese website (with English text) or even a travel agent who can help with a flight?
Buying a ticket for Osaka to taipei, in Taipei, would be more expensive anyway you look at it.
You’d be better off finding a TA in Japan to book you a flight.
Do you intend to return to Osaka?
Can you give us a little bit more info?
Sure thing! I definitely need to return to Osaka, but here’s the goss:
I currently live in Oz but will return to Taipei for a wedding on Dec 17th. Have enough frequent flyer points to go to Japan but not enough for Taipei… Gotta book my freq.flyer ticket now, as seats are limited. Thought I’d try Osaka as I’m keen to attend the end-of-year Pride F.C. tournament and am happy to travel almost anywhere in Japan.
I’ve never been to Japan so I’m not familiar with the agencies, but I thought another Forumosan might have had a similar experience. If anyone knows of a good website (from a Japanese travel agent) then I’d be happy to buy my ticket online, but I’m guessing that I should wait a couple more months before I get the ticket…
Well, you can book Northwest Airlines online. Mid-day departure and morning return. Other than that, the two biggest agencies in Japan are H.I.S. and JTB. I think their sites are only in Japanese, though. I know with H.I.S., the branches tend to have at least one person with passable English. JTB, unfortunately, I have no experience with.
