NHI number is supposed to be 12-digit, so no. I see a 12-digit number on the bottom left corner of my NHI card, so assume thatās it. First time Iāve ever been asked for it though.
Actually, I think it says any one of 3 items could be wrong, one of which is NHI number. The others are ID number, or that I am not qualified (got a weird translation on that one, so not sure of the exact meaning). But when I enter a different NHI number, I get a different error message that only says the NHI number is wrong (so I guess maybe it wasnāt the item that was wrong originally).
I guess theyāre looking to save a bit of money with foreigners who have changed their APRC and havenāt bothered to get their NHI amended. I canāt think of any other reason to provide both.
I mean if people have enough brain cells to land an APRC, I am pretty sure they have enough to get their NHI amended if need be. Weird to attribute this to malice.
Yes, I believe there could be 2 issues with the error, if all inputs are actually correct.
They havenāt told their bank a new ID number, or updated that number to the National Insurance (the NI number wonāt change, but I am not sure if you need to update them. Your A(p)RC number not linking to your banks expected number can be an issue in a lot of things)
ID number on the A(P)RC and on the bank account must match. Probably the NHI card must have same ID number as well (some falsely do not get a new NHI card after ID number change).
Is there a rule it needs to be replaced??
Iāve always hesitated to change mineā¦for years. Iām worried clinics and hospitals systems may get confused with their old records on mr. Even my NHI phone app shows my old ARC number to log in.
Will that all be set straight by going to the NHI office?
Appreciate any info on this from anyone.
Iām just concerned with all the past stories Iāve heard of people having hassles with ARC numbers logging onto various systems.
