🆔 New format for ARC/APRC number is not accepted--testing and reporting thread

HSBC does this, complained with them and they are “reviewing” the matter.

Oh I didn’t know TW Mobile did this too! Ha, and I thought they were more foreigner friendly

they said, APRC number r good, ARC not coz different. SAY THAT AGAIN! frigging useless.

Go to this page, type in your details, then press the " 免插卡驗證(行動化運用)" tab and then “動態密碼”. Type in the code they send you and see if it lets you log in.

Yeah, that does work for me, though I have previously successfully registered for MyData - not sure whether that makes a difference? Or if that works can I assume that the verification process should be working fine on other systems too?

I did have some phone-number-related issues when I was initially signing up, but like I said I eventually fumbled my way through:

  • I signed up using my NHI card and password, which was fine, but the secondary verification was kind of a pain. Trying to do it using my phone number and NHI card number (手機門猫+健保卡卡跳験器) failed because my ID number “was incorrect” (身分識字競格式輸入结誤) [it wasn’t], and trying to do it using my phone number (手機跳福) said that the phone number isn’t registered in my name (此手機競福非登記絵您本人名下,如無本人名下之門就,請選摆。 其他验盈方式 。) [it is, and it’s registered to my APRC number too].
  • I eventually succeeded using SMS verification, but I was getting bored at that point and didn’t bother taking screenshots so I forget what the option was. Financial chip card verification might have been easier, had I known that at the time.

Not sure if that makes a difference. MyData isn’t working for me today unfortunately.

You could test it by trying to login with someone else’s number. I’d imagine it wouldn’t let you, otherwise anyone could get into your account as long as they know your ID number and brithday.

It did send an OTP to my phone based on my ID number and DOB, so I’m guessing that wouldn’t work (also, the fact that it knew my phone number from those two might suggest that me previously registering played a role here).

MyHealthData, when logging in with Alien Citizen Digital Certificate doesn’t accept the new ID format @au. It shows up as an application on the MOICA page after you select Alien Citizen Digital Certificate so I’m guessing they are not intentionally leaving foreigners out…

Indeed. I’ll look into a fix tomorrow.

By the way — and for future reference — would you like to email me this same post at my work email ( au@moda.gov.tw )? It’s easier to forward this way.

Paying Taiwan Mobile bill via Line doesn’t work for me with my “F8” ID number. Works for my wife’s “F2” ID number just fine.

I don’t know whether it’s a Taiwan Mobile or a Line problem, but maybe it would be worth complaining to the company/companies to see if they’ll fix it?

I presume they’d prefer for you to pay your bill, so there might be a bit more leverage than in some of the other cases complained about here.

This could be caused by Taiwan Mobile not using your ARC # as your account ID number. They probably put your passport number in that box.

And of course, Line would then say “Please enter a valid ID number”.

Yep, I tried passport number too but it also didn’t work

I guess that’s more Line not allowing non-ARC/national ID, but TW mobile, unless you haven’t signed with an APRC, TW mobile doesn’t allow (and any other telco AFAIK) ARC as primary ID, since the mobile broadband regulation is written like shit tbh, and they can’t think about the words.

This is what Chunghwa did to me.

They entered my passport number as my ID, not my ARC number, and as everyone knows your passport number changes when you receive a new passport. And I’ve received a new passport in the past few months so I guess I need to go in and update. On the plus side, if I put in my passport number it works to pay my mobile bill from the CTBC app.

Chunghwa’s internet is another story… nothing works to pay for Internet via mobile banking. Until I get that sorted I’ve been topping up an iPass specifically just to pay internet. Ugh.

I am literally in the middle of suing Chunghwa Telecom over this exact issue.
