Hello.
I have heard that things are changing in Taiwan with the government and
their acceptance of University and college diplomas. I heard that they have just came out and said no more two or three year degrees will be accepted. And a number of Colleges won’t be either. Is this true? Does anyone have any more detail on this?
It used to be that a 60 day visator visa can be extended twice
for a stay of 180 days, then it was expired. Does anyone know if they have stopped allowing this?
Have they limited the number of hours for foreign teachers working in Kindergarten classes as well?
make sure the information supplied is related to canadian citizens. my passport (american) came back last week (7th or the 8th) with slip of paper taped inside stating that my visa could be extended twice as you said unless it was explicitly marked as ‘unextendable’ or something like that.
I’m Canadian. I don’t have a degree. I have a certificate (not even a diploma) from a computer program from a university in Canada. I also have a 108 hour TESOL certificate. As well, I have three years of university credits but no piece of paper so the gov’t doesn’t even know about this. It’s useless to talk about credits with no piece of paper anyway. Last week, I obtained my work permit and ARC extension to work here for a third year. That’s as up to date as you can get. Hope it helps.
I’m Canadian and I have had 2 Visa extension and I did not get a slip. Although I do have degree so I don’t know how autumn489 is able to work in the country legally. Although where there is a will there is a way I’m sure he is a better teacher than many foriegners I have encountered. In addition it is odd that some schools only want to see a photocopy of your degree, whereas some want to see the original and photocopy it themselves. Which was the case between me and my room mate. Regarding the slip in passport I should have my ARC by the end of next week. I will be picking up my work permit tomorrow and then I will go directly to the Police Station to apply for my ARC. Don’t know if that answers anyquestions but I hope it helps.
Even though my program was two years accelerated into one, I still got my work permit. I have a certificate in the Application and Management of Information Technology from a major university in Canada. I also have a TESOL certificate. I submitted the originals of both. That’s it. I don’t understand it myself. I was fully expecting to be rejected this time because of the change for approvals from the MOE to the Council of Labour.
