New laws for setting up your own company?

I heard from a friend today that the laws around setting up your own company has changed. You now actually HAVE TO have REAL MONEY deposited into your account to start up any company. And if you do not have the money in the account, it is now a criminal offence. Gone are the days when you can get a CPA to outlay the money for a couple of days for you, to get your company set up! :frowning:

Does anyone know if this only applies to “Taiwanese” domestic companies or does this apply to branch offices of offshore companies as well? For a domestic company you only need NT$500K but for a branch office of an offshore, you’ll need NT$2.5M.

Help! I need some clarification here.
