Looks good, but that’s like two bites. :hushed:

Can make it four bites if you want :muscle:

I think I’m gonna need a smaller spoon.

What I notice about the food is the balance. Instead of a giant plate of rice to fill you up like a lunchbox, every bite tasted good. At 200nt for this more expensive beef plate and you have a bigger appetite, just order 2 or another dish like a burrito or guac. I really like the habanero sauce.

I actually tried two of the quesadillas, and they were both quite good. The portions, however, just don’t match the price point. They were literally less than a quarter the size of a quesadilla you’d find in an American Mexican restaurant. I would have had to order four to make a complete meal.

I realize there are constraints caused by most of the ingredients having to be imported, but I’m just not sure that having portion sizes that small will be a successful strategy in the long term. I do admire the owner/chef’s goal of trying to offer high quality Mexican food, so I’m rooting for her to succeed. Just trying to keep it real with some constructive criticism.

Yeah, I have to get a larger burrito and another dish to be full.

Fair enough. I miss Dallas Mex Mex. About $6 USD for the taco plate. Redirecting... P_20190105_131425
I buy fresh tamales for $6 per dozen. Maseca in Taiwan is $2.50 for a small bag and $1 in Dallas for the big bag.
And a tortilla factory in the supermarket!!!P_20181229_123506

Even in the super-expensive Bay Area, there’s plenty of good, cheap Mexican food.

The carnitas plate at my favorite place in Berkeley is around seven bucks, and hard to finish unless you work in manual labor:

And then there’s the Mexican grocery that sells quesadillas and burritos so big and stuffed with meat that I have to make two meals out of them. Price? six bucks:

Looks good. The best food is the mom and pop’s or at the latin grocers.

Back to Nomad and to life in Taipei —

If you guys saw how the owner of this shop is preparing all the pieces—imported beef slowly cooked for something like ten hours; aged basmati rice cooked with care; pico with freshly hand-chopped tomatoes blended with Taiwan lime juice and freshly blended jalepenos; house-made habanero sauce blended with Taiwan pineapple . . . all made by hand, in house, with no processed nonsense in sight . . .

Is this the cheapest place to eat in the world? No it is not. But you get what you pay for: fresh delicious food made with care. I for one am glad this place is up and running in Taipei and I will happily support it.

I don’t think the feedback is on the price as it is on the portions. I myself have to order a large size burrito, ass extra meat and another meal to be full. I don’t mind paying for it as it’s good and no other real Mexican options. But it’s something to think about.
