My first novel, Stranger in Taiwan was published in the UK by Revenge Ink last week. It’s a story of life, love and laughter in one of the world’s lesser known destinations, and based on my seven years living and working there. You can read a sample here:

Hahaha…I tried my account too and it locked me out. Apparently only UK customers can buy the kindle edition on amazon.com.uk.

Very entertaining! A jolly fun read, full of good belly-laughs. Reminiscent of Tom Sharpe, Kingley Amis, and other fine British humourists. I’d love to read it all. Deserves a wide audience, and could win a lot of admirers if effectively publicized.

Thanks for the positive replies. Yes, I wrote about driving in Taiwanease (and a part of that has been rewritten for this book). The book is a fair reflection of a year in Taiwan (though the timeframe has been somewhat concertinaed). Modest Mouse, sorry yopu didn’t like it. I’m sure you were in an audience I died in front of once…

Come on…I’m more of an American than Taiwanese and I do find his first chapter quite entertaining.

Mouse … it ain’t supposed to be Catcher in the Rye. If you take it for what it is - a tongue-in-cheek bit of light entertainment - it’s pretty good. Sometimes it’s nice to just switch one’s brain off.
