New Rules for Visits to Thailand

Thai immigration has just canceled visa on arrival for Taiwanese as well as visa waivers for Hong Kong, Italy and South Korea.

This seems to be about the passport. I have a UK passport which is not affected–so theoretically I could travel to Thailand and be fine. But would the fact that I’m coming from Taiwan be a factor–and I might be blocked from entering or sent into quarantine? Maybe it’s best to travel via an acceptable stop over country? (Is there even any reason for direct flights to continue from Taiwan to Thailand?). Or maybe the Thais only look at the passport?

This is new and breaking so real info as opposed to guess work is appreciated.
