Does a new thread have to be replied to before it is seen on “Active Topics?”
I just posted a new thread called: “Nat’l Health Insurance -waiting time/preexisting conditions?” in the “Legal Issues at Work” subforum, but it is not in “Active Topics.”
Or is “Active Topics” messed up?
I tested it by replying to it. AFAIK, only Temp threads are not in “Active”.
This thread’s in “Active”, after all. Mr Egg?
Ok, I’m confused. What’s the difference between Active Topics and New?
In the past, I would only hit Active Topics and I felt I was able to see every topic that had a recently added new post. It was kind of my “one stop shopping center”. I never even looked under the New as I thought any new posting in a thread would automatically make it appear under Active Topics. Was I wrong about my assumptions?
At any rate, some topics only appear under Active Topics and some only appear under New. Can anyone tell me why?
Here are some specific examples.
These appear in New, but not Active Topics although there have been some recent active posts.

So, is it me or is something messed up?
I’m sure the legal forums should show up under “active”.
One more question. Can anybody please give me definitions for the following topics and tell me what the difference is?

The problem with the Missing Legal threads from Active Topics is probably the same as here: flob.me/p1103296 – I guess I missed adding them in, although I was quite sure I got them all. Let me double check when I can later today
Here is a recent explanation of the difference between Actives and New: flob.me/p1002081
New threads are ones that have had a post added since you last looked.
Active topics have had more than a certain number of posts added over a 24 hour period (4 or 5, I guess… don’t know for sure).
Active Topics was indeed “missing” most of the Legal forums. I am sorry about that.
Oddly enough, I did manage to add the Legal Sub-forums (Conscription, Marriage, Divorce and Certification", but not the other Legal forums. I have now so they should all appear on Active Topics.
Incidentally, a key difference between the New page and the Active Topics page is that the New page, by definition, cannot be reached unless you are logged in. Also, the Temp Forum is only accessible if you are logged in, so it does not appear on the Active Topics list.
Shouldn’t a thread that has had even ONE post added in the past 24 hours be added to the Actives list? This post, for instance, isn’t showing even though it’s one of the newest at the moment:
