Anyone out there who is a big follower of the NFL like me? Well, in any case…here’s a brief outlook on my favorite team:

St. Louis Rams: Training camp report

Most significant change: It would have to be the departure of quarterback Kurt Warner, who was both a mentor and at times a huge shadow hanging over Marc Bulger, the undisputed starter for the first time in his career. Armed with a new contract, Bulger seems more comfortable, although it’s hard to tell, since he isn’t one to show his emotions.

Reason for optimism: Aside from defensive end Grant Wistrom and defensive tackle Brian Young, all the players who made key contributions on both sides of the ball for last year’s 12-4 playoff team are back. In addition, with running back Marshall Faulk expected to be fully recovered from clean-up surgery on his knee, there are no real injury concerns heading into camp.

Cause for concern: The defensive line. A host of warm bodies will attempt to replace Wistrom at right end, while Jimmy Kennedy, a first-round disappointment last season, is expected to pick up the slack resulting from the underrated Young’s departure. Left end Leonard Little’s DWI arrest this offseason could result in a suspension down the road.

Training-camp battle to watch: A very spirited battle could be shaping up among Kevin Curtis, Dane Looker and Mike Furrey for the No. 3 and No. 4 receiver spots behind Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. Looker and Furrey are more possession types, while Curtis, who is coming off a broken leg suffered last August, is an intriguing deep threat with top-flight speed.

Don’t be surprised if… there are no Orlando Pace sightings in Macomb, with yet another training-camp holdout more than likely for the Pro Bowl left tackle.[/quote]

How about them Cowboys!

Just win baby!

How could you not have the Raiders in your poll? Maybe we finished with only 4 wins last year, but once again we finished first in merchandise sales.

Okay, maybe we aren’t Superbowl bound.

The Raiders have a huge offensive line and have completed some major signings to improve the defense. Buddy Ryan’s son is a former LB coach for the Patriots and will be employing a mixed bag of 4-3 and 3-4 formations.

However, I

^ Sorry, dd. I was just going on the teams that the pundits are picking as having the best odds to win it this year. No disrespect to da Raidaz. They will probably bounce back from last year. That Collins-Gannon tandem is formidable and is a nice insurance policy at QB. :notworthy:

Yea I think Faulk is done, but only because of the injury bug that now seems to bite him every year. He obviously showed last year that when he’s healthy he can still dazzle. I really hope Stevie Jackson turns out to be all the Rams hope he will be, as I can see Faulk retiring when his contract is up. I fear this might be a tough year for the Rams, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if they barely managed to put together a .500 record.

FYI. The TaiwanHo! site has a fantasy football thing going if anyone’s interested.

I wish I had a pro team to root for. I used to be a big Cowboy fan until they sold the team to that Arkansas hillbilly and they discarded Landry like a used tampon. I’ve tried to get into the Chiefs but it just hasn’t stuck. Right now I prefer College football.

Brady, Dillon, an exciting group of receivers, a great D and the league’s best coach. The Red Sox may break my heart, but the Pats provide a soothing remedy!

JM, didn’t you bad mouth us Pats fans in a previous thread? Still hurting from the 2002 Super Bowl?

Smerf, it’s a perpetual pain and I’m not afraid to admit it. I still get pissed off thinking about how the Rams pissed away their opportunity at an NFL dynasty and instead handed that privilege over to the Pats who, if they win at least one more in the next couple years, will undoubtedly have that distinction. :raspberry:
