Hockey Night In Canada appears to be back in action…what does everyone think? I bet the arenas are half empty until the playoffs and then the game gets back to normal…
Nope, it’s still dead.
No ressurection.

Let’s hope they can get it together for next season on time.
So for you die hard hockey fans, how does this play out with you kids? Just a bit of background, when Major League Baseball shut down operations late in the season a few years back, it pissed me off to no end. I didn’t support the sport again until very recently. What brought me back was Safeco field, Ichiro and Boston’s runs the last couple of seasons. Back on topic, are you guys going to walk from the game for a few years or if they fire back up next season, will you be cheering on the Habs or Leafs or Flames or Oilers (God forbid) Kings?
Then again, junior hockey in Canada blows the doors off of minor league baseball in the lower 48. I spent my formative years around Spokane and they had a WHL team. Man, that was some smokin’ hockey. Of course, that stuff ain’t televised in the states, so you have to go to the arena to catch the action.

Rob.

I am a diehard but I am afraid the sport will take a shit kickin, it wont die but it will be hospitalized for years to come…for a sport pleading for American support, it couldn’t have played out any worse.
I;ve left the NHL, I hope they disband the league and make another one. I may come back to watching it in a few years if they use replacement players…
Triple-A ball rocks big time!
They actually hustle and play “Pete Rose” style baseball!
Plus its cheaper, the stadiums are nicer and it feels more “Home Town.”
I’ve attended farm team ball in a number of cities and love it.

Yeah, AAA is pretty good if you’re near a franchise, but for most of the interior US, that ain’t happenin’. Hell, AAA franchises out west are nearly within driving distance of MLB stadiums. Certainly in WA, the Tacoma franchise gets the shaft because Seattle is just up the road. I get short season A ball back home. It’s on par with community college or really good high school ball, although you do get the odd prospect coming through town for a season - Troy Percival (Angel’s) spent a season in Boise and didn’t suck.
Now junior hockey is tight, solid fundamental, no holds barred stick. When I lived in Spokane, a bunch of eventual NHL’ers passed through the league. These 16 to 20 year old kids don’t screw around (on the ice, that is). Too bad the NHL/Player’s union (don’t know the particulars) is killing a great game.

Rob
