Nogle, Xinyi Dist. breaking the CDC quarantine rule

I work in Xinyi for Nogle in Xinyi Dist. They invited Singapore people who did 5 day business quarantine. But after they went about with no mask or social distance and visit busy place and clubs against the rules. Our boss doesn’t care our health. We complained to media and CDC. The company broke quarantine rule before and they don’t care.

Please don’t cross post and double post.

This is going to be Taiwan at its worst. Fear, and witchhunts.

Guys, expats should know better than to indulge in this. Drop it.

Please look at the stats before engaging in such nonsense. Per the study linked below, if someone isn’t showing symptoms after day 5 of quarantine the chance that they have Covid is statistically insignificant.

CDC and/or police should be able to act if those guys are breaking the law.

So people can break the rules if they believe science is on their side?

What, precisely, are the rules for post quarantine?

Edit - I talked to somebody who knows this. Apparently during self management, people are supposed to wear a mask when out and to, generally, avoid public places.

Big fan of witchhunts to be honest. These types of hysteric responses keep us SAFE

Not true. Just look at the quite large number of cases in Taiwan of new arrivals who show up with covid even after their 14 day quarantine time.

If you aim for zero covid cases, you have to be extremely careful

And while these days you can probably find a study in support of anything, the study you refer to is not only not peer reviewed, but moreover does not even focus on 5 day quarantine

Rule is clear. 5 days business quarantine but must have 21 day self monitoring, wear mask, social distancing, dont gather in crowds. Must only attend the business activity.

practice self-health management until the 21st day after entry instead of quarantine. During the self-health management period, the travelers should still monitor their temperature every day and reply to text messages requesting an update on their health status. The travelers should also engage in restricted activities as shown in the itinerary and provide their names for the activities. Furthermore, they should record their daily activities and persons who come into contact with them, avoid public places and wear a mask at all times when going out.

The CECC stated that the abovementioned rules would be applicable to only short-term business travelers.

“This is going to be Taiwan at its worst. Fear, and witchhunts.”
Hmm…Witchhunts. That’s a word we’ve heard quite often from a certain source, the same guy who proposed that the virus could be cured by sticking a flourescent light up one’s arse.

“Guys, expats should know better than to indulge in this.”
So, you’re saying expats are more knowledgeable than ‘ordinary local people’?
“Drop it.”… Drop what? Calling out quarantine breakers?

“Please look at the stats before engaging in such nonsense.”…
I think you mean ‘Please look at THESE stats’.

“Per the study linked below”… This ‘study’ seems to have been conducted over less than two months at a single Canadian airport. Hasn’t even been peer reviewed - I wouldn’t even call it scientific.

“…if someone isn’t showing symptoms after day 5 of quarantine the chance that they have Covid is statistically insignificant.”…
So statistically insignificant means they can’t possibly have it?

If you notice this kind of behavior, collect proof (photos with date stamps or videos) and go to the police. They will take care of it.

Americans are in no position to be lecturing Taiwan about how to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.

How about we do the hobbit hunting first? :yum: That pilot better stay anonymous.

He’s not a kiwi ffs, passport of convenience.

His face and name have been all over local media since yesterday.

Haven’t paid attention, obviously

The question is legality versus morality.

You shouldn’t break the law, but you should understand that the 14 day quarantine requirement is not based in science but rather a deterrent for people to travel. It should be a test on arrival, a 5 day quarantine, then another test upon departure.

Link please.

All on the website of the Taiwanese CDC

Here’s why that’s a bad idea:

  1. It would discourage covid-positive people from coming forward, for fear that their name would also be dragged through the mud.

  2. Witch hunts encourages vigilantism, which leads to the wrong people being caught in the crosshairs and, at, worst, things getting violent. Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam was a good cautionary tale against vigilantism.
