I’ve also had irritation problems with some local laundry detergents, mainly from underpants and socks. What the hell do they put in that stuff?
This began in a WCIF good panties thread; but it seems like a good topic itself, which might help a few folks out, so I think I’ll split this off. DB, WCIF Mod
We sell a detergent online, I really like it and we wash all the babies’ clothes and diapers with it. At 280 box/2000 for 8 boxes, it seems more expensive than supermarket stuff, but it is quite concentrated. I have samples I can send you, just pm me your contact details. If you like I can list its ingredients here, or click on my link in my sig and go to “detergent”.
Damn… if I would have know this before…
Good advice!

With the heat & humididity of the island I sometimes have the same problems. Here is a combination, available in the local stores, that has worked for me. Get the clothes clean also.It allso looks to be enviro friendly. I can’t write the names so here is a picture.

Bleach on left, top center is softener, bottom center is the laundry powder, right is spray cleaner for collars and cuffs.
I get one from Costco that is a peditraican reccommend detergent for babies clothes. It’s called Dreft

Beware! The top center softener caused our baby a lot of irritation. (though the softener smells good)
If you use a good washing powder for baby clothing , you do not need to use softener at all.
Just buy a tumble dryer to make the clothing soft, or iron it…
I wouldn’t recommend bleaching either, for babies’ clothing at least.
That detergent is quite good, I remember the essential ingredient is coconut oil. But I did find that 1.It went hard easily as it is really powdery. 2. It didn’t clean as well for us as the one we finally decided to sell.
Our supplier also has a soaking salt product which is great, but we haven’t added it to our store yet. (You can also get the stuff we sell at organic stores.) Again, if you are interested in it, PM me and I will get you more info and a sample.
Cheer is sold at Cosco. But I have no way to get there… Anyone want to pick some up for me?? Haha.
I have the same problem. I am so sensitive that I now just soak them in the tub for a night and then wash with no detergent. Which is nasty. But the detergents here all kill me.
City Super in the basement of Far Eastern Hotel on Dunhua South carries some import detergents from America, some of which are eco-friendly (the one that’s made in Vermont). Don’t know about non-irritating though.
Dreft, Ivory Snow, and Tide Free are supposed to be hypo-allergenic. I don’t know whether they’re available locally, though. I’ve heard of people using mild liquid soap like Ivory, too.
