Non-Mandarin Student Visa

Hi everybody,

I’m considering taking classes in the fall thereby learning stuff and also fulfilling my visa/ARC requirements. However, I do not intend to study Mandarin. Thinking more like taking content courses about computers and stuff. Anyway, I know that to obtain a student visa by studying Mandarin, you need to have a minimum number of class hours. Is there any such minimum classroom hours requirement if you study courses at a university like a normal student? If so, how many hours MUST you take?

=)

How long is the course?

If you will not be a full-time degree course student, your visa might be a visitor visa for Attending Training Courses, or I think you can take a short course on tourist visa or even visa exempt.

If you will be a full-time university student, the admission permit may be enough to get a resident visa and ARC.

I see.
In that case, what is the definition of a full-time university student
(according to MOFA)?

My guess is Bachelor/Master/Doctor course students. If you are in Taiwan, you can ask at NIA or MOFA directly, or can give a call or send a mail. They are helpful usually, at least in Taipei.
