Hello, I’m supposed to teach a class in Overseas Chinese literature in English. My qualifications consist of having made it through all of Amy Tan’s novels, two of Maxine Hong Kingston’s, and “The Flower Drum Song” (the book’s way better).
It occurs to me that there may be Chinese people living in countries other than California. Can anybody recommend books for me (and my students later)?
I already know about Timothy Mo (Hong Kong / UK) and Hilary Tham (Indonesia, right?).
