Noname files

one of my buddy keeps forwarding me files called “noname”
when clicking properties,it’s called the same, without any .extension

it goes thru virus scan just fine and said buddy claims to open them just fine

i tried every program i got,and i can’t,for the life of me,open them.

i could email one to anyone willing to have a pop at it

How can the computer recognize a file that has no extension? File names are for us extensions are kinda important (well ok REALLY important).

What is this mystery file suppose to be? A video? music? word document? and so on. Find out. Then try putting the appropriate extensions to the file. Be wary, it sounds suspicious tho. It might still be a trojen or worm or spyware that the anti virus software dosen’t have definitions for.

My guess is that when your buddy sends them to you, the name somehow gets messed up.

dablindfrog sent me the file, it was a messed up MIME email where the original attachment was converted to text and added to the message body, resulting in a “noname.dat” attachment.

Looks like Q13 here when you open it with Notepad. I used this decoder to convert it back to a proper file (JPG).

I now know how dablindfrog looks when he doesn’t have his clothes on. Jane doesn’t look too bad either.

if you did, you’d need intensive mental therapy right now.

thanks for the help, but i don’t think i’ll bother going thru this process just to open this guy’s “funny” files…
