NWOHR Immigrating to TW

I might have been incorrect about something.

You may need to apply for an entry permit still. I’m not sure if you enter entry-permit free if that can be extended or not. Maybe check on that

No worries. I’ll be applying for an entry permit through TECO soon. But it’s limited to 3 months per entry from my understanding.

Hope I can get a job and take that route for TARC still.

Gathering all documents and sorting out a plan. Will visit NIA first thing upon arrival to go through my options.

3 months + 3 months extension

No need to apply. You can enter taiwan using your nwohr passport. No entry permit is needed. You may ask NIA yourself if you doubt.

Best find a taiwan goverment ceritifed immigration company. When you get into trouble, very hard to sue anonymous information. But you can sue a real company if they give bad service

Using my TW passport and UI number = bank approved on post office

Maybe if I have a tim I’m going to try driver license

Can you extend the extra 3 months when you enter with no permit?

Every bank should open an account with only this, it’s the law. Post office is usually the easiest to deal with

No idea. I am applying for ARC. Still need a residential lease.

Do you have any idea how can I have a driver license here? I only have a Philippine driver license and International Driver license? Is there a chance can I get TW driver License?

Yes you can, provided you can reside in Taiwan for at least 6 months, so you would need to do it after renewing for the extra 3 months

You just go to the vehicle office with your documents, argue and apply

三、臺灣地區無戶籍之國民、外國人、大陸地區人民、香港或澳門居民,應檢附經許可停留或居留六個月以上之證明(件)。

  1. Taiwan nationals, foreigners, mainland Chinese, Hong Kong or Macau residents who do not have registered permanent residence in Taiwan shall submit proof of their permission to stay or reside for more than six months

See if you can ask MOTC to clarify?

I’m actually reading the requirement as this
[停留] 或 [居留六個月以上]之證明
[Visit] or [Residence over 6 months]

rather than [[Visit or Residence] over 6 months]

if the first reading is correct, bring the documents and your entry/exit permit.

Your driving licence needs to be authenticated by TECO in Philippines first though, and translated if not in English.

I have a feeling it may be [stay] or [reside over 6 months]

rather than [[stay or reside] over 6 months]

They use visit(stay/停留) and residence (reside/居留) quite specifically in legislation.
from Immigration Act ( Immigration Act - Article Content - Laws & Regulations Database of The Republic of China (Taiwan) )
7. “Visit” means a visit in the Taiwan Area for the period of less than six (6) months.
8. “Residence” means residing in the Taiwan Area for the period of six (6) months or up.

So maybe he can switch to a Taiwan licence. And I wonder if it’ll help out a bit with his identity situation.

He definitely can, I did it while on WHV. Which is also visit for 6 months

The vehicle office are stupid though and it took a heap of arguments. They have a one track mind and keep asking for a TARC/ARC but it isn’t necessary

Thanks! Yeah, I saw the new immigration rules. But TECO warned me here to still apply for permit to be sure because some of the airlines are still not aware of the rule changes.

I’m not sure if I can afford one but it won’t hurt to try and look for an immigration company. Thanks for that!

I’ll post updates here so others in the same situation can have something to look into. Planning a trip to TW soon to start paperwork and see how it goes.
