NWOHR passport holder residing in Philippines - seeking full Taiwan citizenship

His is a work/investment route, meaning he has a TARC now. The 1 year he meant is the wait for HHR.

Some valid ways of getting a TARC are broadly through:

  • Work (AF370)
  • Investment(AF358)
  • Family (AF353/AF354/AF384)
  • Legal visitor status for 183 days per year for 5 years (AF385)

And then through the TARC spend 335 days in 1 year or 270 days per year in 2 years or 183 days per year in 5 years to get HHR.

Just go to spain. 2 years for a filipino to get citizenship.

Punta ka na lang sa spain. 2 taon para makakuha ng citizenship ang isang pilipino

i see . so please see if i understood it right:

  1. to get a tarc, it is either thru work, investment, legally stay 183 days a year for 5 times. so first i have to tell them which option i choose yes? in case i dont find a job yet, and i choose the 5 year option
  2. when i begin the 5 years 183 option, each time i enter just 90 days then exit and enter again 90 days. so i need another exit again and enter to add up to the already 2 times of 90 days (180). yes?
  3. when i fulfill this for 5 years, i still need 1 year to get a tarc? or i can already get tarc?

thanks

ahhh yes. could be. hope you can find a hobby to get busy with or meet some friends. take care

Yes

You can extend your initial 90 days for another 90s so you would need to leave and re-enter every 180 days

No TARC at all for 5 years, you get a TARC at the end of the 5 years, after 1 year on TARC you can get household registration

To add to what justintaiwan said, you fulfill the criteria then apply for the TARC. if you find a skilled job, you apply for a job related TARC (eg. AF370) with the NIA showing proof of securing the job offer.

If you do the 5 year option, you finish the 5 year option then apply for a TARC (AF385) showing them you have fulfilled the criteria. (of course, if you fulfill another criteria for getting a TARC anytime while working on the 5 year route you can jump to that)

After that both have the same criteria for securing HHR after 1,2 or 5 years.

Yep! Itā€™s getting the TARC that can get tricky but establishing housebound registration is easy and the same for everyone (excluding Chinese)

Marrying a taiwan man or a taiwan woman will get you the passport faster i think. Gay marriage is a thing here.

I cant do 5 years, but thats just me

"Sa tingin ko, mas mabilis kang makakakuha ng pasaporte kung magpapakasal ka sa isang lalaking Taiwanese o babaeng Taiwanese. Legal ang same-sex marriage dito.

Hindi ko kaya ang limang taon, pero iyon lang ang sa akin."

ok. thanks. getting clearer and clearer now.

hahaha salamat. i heard this but di din ako Filipino citizen eh. hahahha wala akong proper citizenship. what a pity noh?

ā€œHahaha, thank you. I heard about this, but Iā€™m not a Filipino citizen either. Hahaha, I donā€™t have proper citizenship. What a pity, right?ā€

Check with a filipino lawyer about what can be done

Magtanong ka sa isang Filipino na abogado tungkol sa kung ano ang maaaring gawin.

the last update before 2024 was year 2000 for immigration and citizenship for NWOHR. but i can be wrong.

Iā€™m stateless

You have an ROC passport and youā€™re ā€œstatelessā€ riiiiiiightā€¦

You realise that ā€œstateless peopleā€ born in the Philippines get Philippine citizenship? But youā€™re not stateless, are you? Youā€™re an ROC national

@starlight69 Hereā€™s a free lesson: if your passport says ā€œNationality R.O.C.ā€ youā€™re not stateless. Stateless means having absolutely no nationality whatsoeverā€”not a single scrap of legal recognition by any country.

@starlight69 Below is what a stateless passport looks like.

See under ā€œnationalityā€ he is listed as ā€œStateless Geneva Convention 1954ā€ DO YOU HAVE THIS??? No! You are not statelessā€¦

I would also say that your parents and you as well have Chinese nationality by descent and are not stateless. Having a Taiwanese NWOHR passport most countries will recognize you as Taiwanese (R.O.C. national) even though they do no recognize statehood of Taiwan.
Getting HHR will give you voting rights and right to abode in Taiwan.

If I take the AF385 path, will I be given the TARC immediately? Or is that after completion of 5 years? Followed by another 5 years for HHR? So that would be a total of 10 years?
