Jim Geraghty said it was a great performance by Obama and the House GOP, but especially by Obama. Geraghty is my favorite political blogger, though I think he’s a horrible writer of any long article. I much prefer Victor Davis Hansen or Thomas Sowell.

The only sad thing is your inability to view anything objectively. How to deal with a Conservative (if you must) - I know, I ripped that off from Robotranny:
Confuse them with logical reasoning on a Friday after all their talking heads have printed out their final edits for their Friday shows. This way the herd gets confused by the lack of guidance and cannot form a coherent opinion until the Monday shows finish and they are updated on how dissect it.

Now think for a minute, Obama had to go to the republicans. After one year of shutting them out of everything, he goes to their conference in Baltimore and asks for their help. Wide Majorities in the House and he had a filibuster proof Senate, and he got nothing except that crap stimulus bill. Which everybody hates btw.
So now that that has been accomplished what does he turn his sights on:

I can see the headlines now; "After dropping a voter disenfranchisement case against the black panthers(show video), giving KSM a civilian trial in New York that he had to scratch, and giving the Xmas day bomber the full civil rights of an American citizen for trying to blow up a plane then plea bargaining him; NOW! The great legal minds at the justice dept decide that they really need to look at the Bowl system in college football. It fookin writes itself. The Justice Dept run by Eric Holder, the guy who got Marc Rich his pardon.
If the Republicans take back the Senate next year, I expect a bloodbath as they start going through all the dirty deeds that they currently are being stonewalled on. A few examples, The Black Panther case where charges were dropped, the AIG debacle where all creditors were reimbursed 100% and AIG employees were told to misrepresent it, who decided to read the pantybomber his Miranda rights.

Hold on a second there… Obama has spent the entire year reaching out to the Republicans, yet the Repubs simply oppose anything he or the Dems propose, because they are nothing more than obstructionists. To them it’s party before country. Obama and the Dems compromise, compromise and compromise, giving concessions to the GOP, only to have them vote “no” on lock-goose-step.
What Obama needs to do is stand up to the obstructionism and push legislation through. He needs to crack some heads. After all, it only requires 50 votes in the Senate to pass a bill, not 60.
I loved this get-together with the Repoubs because Obama shot down all this GOP-concocted BS. Rationing? Death panels? An invention from the twisted minds of Repubs. Obama told them the truth, and to Repubs, truth is like kryptonite, like light to a vampire.

I honestly don’t know what fever swamp you regular hang out in, but the R’s were basically cut out of all the choices by the D’s. Obama has no control over Pelosi and most bills have been on a straight part line vote. Could you please link one bill that the Obama administration has even sought R involvement in? How about losing the governor races for NJ, and Virginia and the Senate race in MA?
Now I know you have your ideological bias and I have mind. Could you please link me your post where you called the D’s filibustering Bush’s judicial nominees obstructionism? It takes 60 votes to end debate so a vote may proceed, please do not obfuscate.
This is Obama, the same guy who said to the R’s when they offered ideas, “I won.” He has said other similar things. Now if he wants to let Reid and Pelosi piss all over R’s and their agenda that is fine, but don’t act like he was involved in making anything happen or reaching across party lines. 2010 is shaping up to look a lot like 1994 and Obama is taking that into account by no less than Charlie Cook.
So use all your useless tawdry writings, but in reality the R’s have been completely cut out and this is all the D’s fault. I can’t wait till Hoyer busts out the long knives.

The BCS is actually a big issue.
But your right wing leanings would have no issue with a corrupt corporate influenced entity profiting hundreds of millions of dollars off of college student’s hard work and free labor. These students often do not graduate and then become gov’t dependents, but Heaven forbid we stop them from padding corrupt pockets by risking their ability to walk playing in the ‘Tostitos Fiesta Bowl’ or the ‘Outback Steakhouse Gator Bowl’
College sports are in a bad way right now, basically legal slavery. Scholarships were enough back in the day when the dollar figures were small, but now with the money as insane as it is (think 9 figures), it needs to be examined. It is greed at it’s worse.
Besides, do you really want to nitpick what the gov’t does? we could rehash 8 years of absolute sh*t storm that made the world worse and cost trillions…

Maybe he will handle it as well as he has handled the healthcare bill. 
If he could not come up with a good answer, he just lectured the audience about cooperation and labeled the questions themselves as non-cooperative. He did that with 2 or three very good questions which he never actually answered. I don’t think he set the record straight. I think he got chewed.
Obama lifted a line from this speech when he said that some Republicans were not interested in solving problems, they are only interested in two things, (1) telling you who is to blame for it, and (2) making you afraid of it.

The question was about a Republican plan to give medicare recipients the same coverage as members of congress. Obama said that when Democrats made a similar proposal, it was demonized by Republicans. He said the same thing would happen to a Republican proposal if we continue with the politics as it is currently done. “It’s all tactics. It’s not solving the problem.” he said. It’s at about the last 3 or 4 minutes of the video.

Not just a lot of truth; it is the truth. Republicans (or more accurately, conservatives) have no interest in solving problems, and they demonstrated with clarity over the past 8 years, if not the past 30 years. They’re very adept at creating problems, however; and they’re never man enough to admit their own screw-ups. It’s always “The liberals did it” - as if liberals have had any power over the last 30, hell, 40 years. :raspberry:

I’m pretty sure he used that argument in response to two questions. Maybe I’m mistaken but I’m not going to watch it again.
Wow, were you and I watching the same event? Obama nailed them. He was able to answer every question posed to him and called them out on their campaign sound bytes.
It depends on how much you appreciate and agree with the answers, I guess. He had some really good answers for the most part, but he struggled pretty badly on a couple occasions.
