If the economy is getting better, then why are 18 percent of all homes in the state of Florida currently sitting vacant?

If the economy is getting better, then why does the number of “long-term unemployed workers” stay so high? When Barack Obama first took office, the number of “long-term unemployed workers” in the United States was approximately 2.6 million. Today, that number is sitting at 5.6 million.

But there is some good news.

When Barack Obama first took office, an ounce of gold was going for about $850. Today, the price of an ounce of gold is over $1700.

The era of great prosperity that America has enjoyed for so long is coming to an end.

I am a diehard republican as anyone on this forum can attest to. Yet the republicans under bush were big govt spendthrifts. Our crisis is from that period. Perhaps obama could enact more business friendly policies but how can we bush supporters criticize him for not doing so? I do not like our departure from iraq but this too was negotiated by bush. With hillary I find MUCH to like about obama. I will most likely vote for him this election.

There are less than 11 months until election day when the people will decide who will be the next President of the United States.
The person elected will be the president of all Americans, not just the Democrats or the Republicans.
It’s time that we all need to come together, Democrats and Republicans alike. This may be the most critical election of our lifetime.

For a bit of contrast check out this comparative chart detailing the Reagan recovery vs the Obama recovery. One president charged ahead with plans to greatly reduce taxes, lessen regulations, and pushes to increase domestic energy production in the United States. The other president – Barack Obama, called for more taxes, more regulation, and has fought increasing domestic energy production at every opportunity – such as his shutting down of the much-needed Keystone pipeline:

The decreasing unemployment rate in America cannot be ignored, it’s really a difficult question for Republicans to deal with there :sunglasses: .
The logic of a lot of this debate is very poor though, because it’s clear that Obama himself does not have the power to deal with all issues in America, there are many other institutions and trends at work, the President simply puts his fork in and stirs it around a bit.

Why doesn’t Obama do anything for Syria ? How do people justify their grievances against Israel when a real army-vs-civilian massacre is happening in Syria and everyone is silent? Is it because we don’t see video of it? Maybe we need a Kony2012 for Bashar al-Assad?
