Oh deer

so im headin off to work yesterday. And passing by the spot where i hit a deer and nearly took out my car some months back (apparently its a known deer crossing for some reason) in the morning and there was this huge buck that had possibly been hit and was injured. The poor thing was laying on the side of the road and seemed to be only able to move its head. IT was probably in pain but was using its head to try to get at some leaves nearby in the bushes. And it was already very hot. And the forcast was for 40 degree Centigrade for later in the day.

I figured I cant let that deer suffer. I called the cops. Told them the situation and where the deer was. I was thinking, they will probably just kill it, but if so at least its preferable for the animal to get a bullet in the head then to die slowly and painfully of injuries and thirst in the hot hot day.

OR it could be lucky and just dazed and the officers can help move it back into the bushes (its a mountainous area full of deer and some mountain lions).

When i came home early evening when the sun was still out, i went looking to see what had happened.

Well i came upon said deer and its head had been cut off neatly. Body was there, headless.

Well i guess the cops came over and shot him in the head and either left him or cut off his head. Or someone else came by adn cut off his head to take to a taxidermist. It was a large buck with a nice set of horns so i guess can look on some “hunters” wall.

I still think i did the right thing tho. If hit by car, theres not much chance to heal it. And deer are wild animals and a big buck is dangerous to humans. So i guess thats all it could have to be. At least it didnt suffer needlessly (assuming the cops came and did what cops do adn shoot it in the head and not some guy came by and used a saw to saw it off, which is unlikely if the animal is alive as they are a handful).

Lucky no deer in taiwan to hit.

Too bad they couldnt have shot it and then immediately transported the carcass to the zoo and let the lions and tigers have some freshly killed deer?

Taiwan has deer

Im not sure if even a hundred deer are killed on taiwans roads a year versus:

In 1993, 25 schools throughout New England participated in a roadkill study involving 1,923 animal deaths. By category, the fatalities were:[5]
81% mammals
15% birds
3% reptiles and amphibians
1% indiscernible
Extrapolating these data nationwide, Merritt Clifton, editor of Animal People Newspaper estimated that the following animals are being killed by motor vehicles in the United States annually:[6]

22 million rats
19 million opossums
15 million raccoons
