While observing that more and more Forumosians are adapting to - as copying a local 
invented synonym for “the Rock” we need some Engrish Teachers expertise.
If “the Wan” refers to the country - should we use “In the Wan”
or if the country is in this case perceived as an island- would it be advisable to say “On the Wan” ?

I dont really like the name TAIWAN though, it has always confused us with Thailand.
IT really should be reverted back to FORMOSA .
Or at least least spell it as DAIWON to get away from this Thailand shizzle.

agreed on the reversion to Formosa, that would be a good move. never heard or seen anyone else use “the wan” outside of this forum.
if taiwan really has to stick though I’d prefer T-Dubs. seen it used on facebook by some people and sounds much better than “the wan”.

“The Wan” sounds like something a retarded hippie would say. Of course the Taiwanese aren’t going to use a non-Mandarin name (Formosa) to refer to Taiwan. “Taiwan” is fine - if it ain’t broke and all that jazz.
