Pretty much that. I mean specialized sellers, not the likes of PCHome or Momo.
I like to visit Guang Hua now and then, but it’d be nice to check stuff out online too.
Bonus question: does it make sense at all to buy something on Amazon or some other place from US (things seem to be cheaper there, paradoxically) and get it sent here? I mean the tax. For example, yesterday I was looking at something costing ~500$ on Amazon, with shipping to here and import tax calculated at 25$. Is that a realistic estimate?
Computer parts, mate. Thought I mentioned it somewhere out there.
For those with a truly curious mind, the mystery thingamajig I gave as an example shouldn’t really be that much of a secret. It’s fairly easy to guess, at least if you follow the latest in PC trends.
One of the key places in Taipei is Guanghua Digital Plaza, you can look it up, the main forum does a lot of common electronics.
The side roads if you know where to shop are going into as low as computer parts, everything including resistors, wires, parts, there is about 20 shops into that in a basement nearby by main computer sales area.
One of those is not bad its 2 or 3 floors deep and some of the shops are doing the most basic types of parts, no point I really spend time guessing what you are after.
If its just audio there are a bunch of stores getting deep into every part if you look closer to the river but basically not far from the Taipei station.
Too much to play the guessing game what you are actually looking for.
Thanks a lot buddy, but perhaps you missed the bit where I said that: “I like to visit Guang Hua now and then, but it’d be nice to check stuff out online too.” and that the big sign on the door says that I’m looking specifically for online parts sellers.
Also, it’s still completely pointless to moan that I didn’t say “what I’m looking for” because I did. It’s computer parts.
That’s grand, but I wasn’t asking about shipping, but whether Amazon’s import tax estimate is realistic. Blimey, is there something anti-reading comprehension in the water today?
~40 replies in, and maybe 1-2 on-topic replies (though Shopee really isn’t much helpful wither, said as much in the OP). Welcome to the wonderful world of internet forums
Someone’s going to get threathened with the “moderators forum”!
Try 紐頓e世界 or Welcome - 原價屋Coolpc. Sticking part numbers into FindPrice 價格網 - 購物比價 can sometimes lead to surprise bargains in odd places, do be cautious of buying from odd places though!
There’s CoolPC but I still just go there for the part (they have several shops at the digital plaza). It’s the same price no matter what so unless you live out in the boonies where going to the digital plaza is hard, it’s pointless.
Also I checked Amazon for parts I wanted, and it doesn’t look significantly cheaper, and factor in the grey market import and no warranty, it doesn’t seem like that great of a deal anymore.
Works for motorcycle parts too - admittedly this results did show up on google when I searched, but was still cheaper to ship from the US via Fedex with the import duty pre paid (which I may get back).
Cheeky sod with the wiseass remarks here. Go fiddle with Chat-GPT and be a curmudgeon to it instead, ya smarmy wanker. Asking for help is one thing, but asking for help while being a bellend won’t score you any points, ziomek.
