I should have used the sarcasm emoji. No, I don’t consider being an “influencer” (who exactly do they influence?) to be a real profession and certainly not a long-term career path. But that young, inexperienced, talentless, unskilled quip describes teaching English in Taiwan as well, doesn’t it? Our generation taught EFL. This new generation become influencers.

I dunno, they’re probably learning stuff about marketing, brand building, photo and video making, maybe some business skills. And that’s if they’re not already making enough money to not need a future career, which the good ones totally are.
It’s like professional athletes, the smart ones save and invest some of their money as their career might finish tomorrow, while the not so smart ones expect the cash flow to continue for ever and burn all their cash day per day

For some there would definitely be transferable skills for media and marketing roles.
Many are already treating these channels as businesses, and have other associated businesses.
Are they a mere influencer, or the CEO and talent of a small media business?
