Opera 8.0 (Browser)

Opera has released the latest version of its browser: www.operasoft.com

Traditional Chinese UI isn’t available yet but I guess it will be sooner or later (older versions have it).
However there is a cool feature that allows you to mark text (in webpages or files you open in the browser) which is then spoken to you once you press the “v” key (or right click and select ‘Speak V’). Seems to work however for English text only.

And if that doesn’t impress you you can actually talk to the browser: Talking to Opera

I like the reading feature, though I think the male voice seems a little clearer.

Anyone?

Yep, agree.

I heard you guys downloaded Opera too much, now the poor CEO needs to go for a bath.

opera.com/swim/

been using opera in both linux and win for years. by far the best browser on the market!

Opera is celebrating its tenth anniversary by giving away registration codes. That means you can get this excellent browser, which normally costs US$30 or so, for free if you act fast. :bravo:

Trust me: You need this. (I still prefer Opera to Firefox, which has copied many of its features.) And if you’re still using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, there’s no better time than now to discover how much better Opera is.

First, download Opera. (Note that it is available in a wide variety of languages and operating systems.) Then get a free registration code.

Remember, this is just for today. If you see this too late, you can still download and use Opera, but you’ll have to endure ad banners (not too bad) unless you pay the registration fee.

(Mods: I started a new thread rather than using the old one because I think this needs the special title – at least for today.)

Thanks very much for that tip. If nothing else I should be testing my work in this browser as safari and firefox are fine for me. CSS support seems spotty in opera and one of my sitesbreaks in the browser, though that could be because my css skills aren’t up to snuff.

:astonished: Opera has probably the best CSS support around.

I didn’t see any difference on my Win2K machine in Opera, Firefox, or IE. Your CSS looks fine (though you might need a hack for IE’s buggy box model).

It breaks in opera for mac. I should have been more clear.

Damn I missed the free registration, but:

Might try that. With the number of visitors I get I should be eligible at the end of next year!
