Blue truck, yes. Or, if you have a family, blue truck van version. Not great for lifting big stuff into. Pizza oven. But for most thing, mattresses and wood, the vans are great and far more comfortable. At least in my opinion. Delica vans if want a bit more space and more weight. Cheap used. If you are a tall person, the new veryca are even smaller inside than before. Long legs, beware! The new Mitsubishi really are terrible. 3.5T down anyway.
I do wonder though, if I’m sick of the boring blue truck and want to repaint it with some color shifting blue to purple or whatever other color, is it legal to do so?
Yes, go register the color change with the government. Few hundred $. I have always wondered where this myth of you can’t change car colors came from…??? Black cat, Kerry, SF, etc all have their custom paint jobs. When you buy new, you can tell the dealer to paint it XYZ color. Your delivery will be delayed, but it’s easy enough.
Many brands have repainting shops in their shop. If I remember tomorrow, I will take a picture.
This was also on my list, but I like the little truck. If I was actually planning properly for future needs I would get the 4x4 version, probably with tail lift, but all that just adds extra weight.
Im a short arse so the space in the cab don’t matter but if I could get my motorbike in the back that would be a bonus over a trailer.
If a truck, the hydraulic lifts are handy. But the back won’t stay as dry.
Aluminum ramps are pretty common, and way cheaper. Even scrap yard scaffolding platforms work a treat for the 2 wheelers ![]()
This has already been answered in another thread where you asked the same question. Yes, it’s legal to repaint vehicles as long as you register the new color.
Scooter broke down in the countryside once and a bloke came to pick me up and fix it,
he had a title blue truck with a little electric winch on the back and a short Ali ramp to help him to load it and unload, but I don’t think that would help with a bigger bike.
I’m assuming the operating cost for gas scooter must be much lower right? I wonder about electric scooters, do proper scooter that allow charging at home (rather than charge a subscription for you to drive them like gogoro) exist? I don’t mean those no license electric scooters (but I might think these work for short trips)
You can charge Gogoro batteries at home if you’d rather not subscribe. You’ll need to purchase a battery though.
Really? Thats Greta news. We went to a few dealerships I guess 6ish years ago and they said nope. Need to subscribe. It is the sole reason we don’t have an electric scooter already, subscription services are rackets we won’t support. Guess it is time to go ask again. I wonder if Kymcos hold out led to a domino effect of gogoros plan to dominate battery charging?
Fuck me. I’m not even going to edit that one hahaha. Whoops
You can do that? How much is a battery?
I had thought of getting one of those unlicensed electric scooters though, because they have enough range to cover at least a decent part of Taipei… I think I’d definitely get one if I was stuck in a part of Taiwan without MRT or whatever.

Probably quite a bit of most people would rather just subscribe. Also need to factor in your electric bill from charging at home.

I think starting next year or sometime soon those all need to be licensed, and you need to be at least 14 and pass a test to ride them.
I’m sorry to say I agree with the rules. I’ve seen people act like even more of an idiot on one. They really need to regulate the hell out of this.
Electricity is cheap in Taiwan, I seriously doubt it will be a significant cost.
I’m sorry to say I agree with the rules.
No need to apologize. You’re the one who’s looking into getting one of those, not me.
Honestly, one reason why I’m so hesitant and scared to drive, or even bike in Taiwan is because Taiwanese seem to have little to no spacial awareness. It’s like they live in a bubble, and their entire universe exists only in a space about 2cm around them. So they walk, drive, bike almost like no one else exists. It’s most annoying when they just back up their scooter or whatever without even considering that people may be walking by, or a car might be coming. I’m not sure why and I am not sure regulations will change that.

You’re describing yourself? ![]()
By the way if you buy a cheap car, like an old Toyota, does repair cost eat up the savings? Like are you going to pay about the cost of a new car if you bought a 30,000nt decade old Camry to keep it running?

This hasn’t been my experience in Kaohsiung. Most people turn and look before backing out their scooters. When I’m walking I never have to worry that a scooter might back into me.
Maybe it’s just a Taipei thing.
