Ordering English Video and PC Games in Taiwan

I just ordered 2 things from this company. It looks like everything should go smoothly and if it does, I’ll post about it here.

Website is:
lik-sang.com/

If you’re curious I ordered:
GTA: San Andreas and an accesory for my GBA: SP. It should all be here before the end of October.

I tried amazon and some other places, but they won’t ship video games outside of the country. This place also accepts paypal and some kind of account thing from various banks (and credit cards of course).

Let me know of other sites or methods (legal, I know all about other ways) if you know of any.

I can tell you that Lik Sang has the seal of approval from the bulk of the game collector fraternity back in NZ. There’s another one that I used before I came to Taiwan that I got a USB charger from. I’ll see if I can rustle up the address.

Found it!

Another one with the NZGC (New Zealand Game Collectors) nod.

Also worth checking is:

What about PC games?

I found this list of sites that sell video and PC games. I saw one that had Half-Life 2 and delivered world wide. Check’m out and let us know what you find.

Here’s the site that I saw Half-Life in (I just saw the option for world wide shipping, I’m not sure if that means they’ll send it to Taiwan or not though):
shop.game.net/

One of the big chains in the US, Eletronic Boutique or EB Games, will ship to Taiwan. The shipping fees are just pretty high, but sometimes you need pay to get the latest and greatest (Doom III, StarWars Battle Front).

ebgames.com/ here’s their site. I suppose it would be worth shopping around. The place I ordered my stuff from had free shipping on PS2 games for the month (or something). I ordered some Dreamcast games a long time ago and they too gave me free shipping (this was in the US though, but it was an import).

OK, I just found a website called www.cdwow.com. They sell PC games and deliver to Taiwan with free shipping. I just ordered Half Life 2 for my PC. The prices are in UK pounds sterling, and the games cost me 26.99, which is good for a premium title. That works out at US$ 48.70. Not bad, and I couldn’t find a better offer elsewhere.

Thought I’d stop by this thread to mention that the best place in the world for buying English games in my opinion is: storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php

With STEAM you can download the games directly to any computer you own…now or in the future. Once you have your login info…you games will always be with you…even if your computer isn’t. And STEAM even shows all it’s games’ Metacritic.com scores.

Nah, www.shinyimports.com is betterr. Unless steam has it in which case they are probably cheaper and faster.

Don’t forget BFM, and his shiny imports!

The Half-Life 2 that you can buy from 7-11 (came packaged with CSS when I bought it) installs fine in English (even though it says “Chinese Version”) on the box. Steam is in English, the game is in English. No problems.

Then after that, of course, there’s always the games that Steam offers for download.

I’m going to order Company of Heroes from Shiny Imports. COH is the highest ranked RTS in a long time. It’s the 12th highest ranked game out of all games ever on metacritic.com . There is a free demo you can download of the game…I played it everyday for two weeks…it’s a good game. If anyone else wants it now would be a good time to tell Shiny since they’re ordering in one for me.

You should also check out WH40K : Dark Crusade. Personally I preferred it over Company of Heroes, since I’m pretty jaded over the whole WW2 setting and there is a hell of a lot of micro management on the higher difficulties and Multi player. Campaign is a bit short too, 15 missions and you can only play as the Allies, whereas Dark Crusade you have 7 factions to choose from.

Big Fluffy Matthew are you gonna have the WoW Expansion : Burning Crusade, US version?

Why would anyone need to buy half life I and II or any other valve games from an online retailer? Doesnt steam sell them online and they let you download it right after you pay for it…? I mean you only buy a serial number that gives you the right to play it…
Big Fluffy Matthew are you gonna have the WoW Expansion : Burning Crusade, US version?
Yes I am, I’m expecting it around the end of the week, early next week at the latest. It’s $NT1600 including shipping. If anyone wants one I suggest you send me a pm to make sure I get enough. They’re going to send them to me as soon as they get it, so let me know ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Does take a while to download though…
