I don’t really dig the grey background, but other than that, it’s good to see it moving forward.[/url]

The link you posted doesn’t display properly in firefox (at least not for me), that can’t be good. Strange, my background is white. Works in IE. I think I liked the way it looked before better. It also looks like it was created with 800X600 in mind so it looks a little funny on my screen. That long bar of white looks funny.

Firefox makes the site have bad layout. There’s a very long column on the left, and lots of empty space on the right. All the information is on the page if you scroll down.

I am using IE at the office and the layout is still bad with a lot of white on the right.

Yes, I meant with IE too. It look terrible with firefox, but that’s some kind of compatibily issue.

Yup, they didn’t QC this release. One other cardinal rule they violated was the content rule … the lack of. Nothing turns off people than having no content. They’ve turned the website into an ads site and they have none. And another thing they did was having inconsistent layout. I’ve no idea what they’re thinking :ponder:

Thanks for all the feedback! Layout problem fixed. We didn’t have time for QC on layouts for other reasons, sometimes have to go with that which is imperfect, even the most neurotic perfectionists (like me!) have to live with it!

Re: Content, some of you may not remember but the very beginnings of this site (Forumosa) was just me, and Gus. Talking to each other for quite awhile before others starting posting. =) Now look at where it is.

You can’t have content until you have something to post content to. We’ll get there. =)

By the way, there’s a engineering job advertisement in your ‘Missed Connections’ section.

Pretty funny & destined to be the ultimate missed connection.

Now and then, I get curious about what is happening at Oriented.com. I know that it is the predecessor to Forumosa, so I wonder how that has developed since the forums were spun off.

I know Oriented for its happy hour, but this isn’t supposed to be its focus, right? It has a white pages of some kind. With people setting up their own blogs or space on Myplace, aren’t there better ways to list yourself on the Internet?

So, is Oriented “working”? It is what it is, but what is it?

I thought they just have fashionista happy hours?

Is it really ‘something’?

“Server Error”

It’s a similar thing to F.com, except it’s pretty much limited to *BC’s, from what I can see, and I don’t think they have a forum. It’s also much more of a schmoozing, “networking” thing than F.com – you’re seen as rather strange if you go to an Oriented HH without a large stack of business cards. I don’t think I’ve EVER been offered a card at an F.com HH, thank Christ!

I thought Oriented became Forumosa.

Orineted was split up. The forum section was taken by one of the Oriented founders and made into f.com, whle “the rest” was taken by the other Oriented founder. Oriented ended up catering to *BCs who fancy themselves as “career people” while F.com catered to normal folks and went from strength to strength, while F.com happy hours are actually happy and NOT simply about exchanging namecards and looking for work.

MJB and I were once given cards for a franchised whorehouse in cities all around Taiwan at a Carnegies’ HH.

Yeah, but I was talking about work. Oriented is for those who have basically no interests outside of their “careers”
Oh, wait – you mean the guy was soliciting you both to work for him? One of THOSE kinds of houses? I thought they were usually called “bathhouses.” So he was operating a kind of “house of freaks” bathhouse and saw you and MJUB as ideal draws.
Explains why I wasn’t given such a card.

Don’t knock eclectic clientele. :raspberry:

And the card and presentation was given by a WOman.
