Outdoor patio

any good restaurants/bar in taipei with good outdoor seating? kinda like La Terrase in Taizhong…

I am not aware of any. I don’t believe that the subject has ever cropped up in discussion here but I suppose that is the price for being light years behind Taichung when it comes to restaurants with outdoor seating.

Sigh.

there’s the Leblé D’or at the Asiaworld. http://www.lebledor.com.tw/

and if you are close to XinZhuang, there’s Clover Retaurant. http://www.clover-restaurant.com.tw/
it has a nice outdoor bar, but it’s usually pretty dead except on saturdays when the majority of the customers are expats. teachers from schools around the area, with the majority being from Hess.

I like that patio as well. But there isn’t any view. Aside from Carnegies I don’t know of one with good people watching potential.

Future Bakery and Cafe or the Black bull in Toronto among the best places in the world for this.

Right across the street from the Leblé D’or there is a microbrewery sports bar with a ton of outdoor seating on a large terrace overlooking an athletic field and public square. It’s only crowded when people spill over from the stadium during or after sports events. It’s not bad for people watching as many people stroll or play sports there. The beer from the microbrewery is okay, but not as good as that at the Leblé D’or (whose wheat and lagers are quite good). On weekend afternoons it’s two for the price of one I seem to recall.

Biermeister at the back of the NYNY building in the XinYi area has outdoor seating and people watching with great microbrews. Food’s decent too, especially their chili. Tons of people walking about on the weekend. It also has a great view of Taipei 101.

Good to hear La Terrasse is an ongoiing concern. Is Terry still around? great bloke, great food.

Accepted my first ever teaching job there while being wined and dined by the cram school boss (those were the days, eh? I’d been living on local grub for so long it could have been the bread rolls alone that made me agree to teach. I can still recall every dish I had that day. Superb!

Buashibanned, I presume you mean patio joints in addition to Carnegies on An He, and the patioish feel of the Italian Job? Both of which are strangely reminsicent of La Terrasse in their own sweet ways.
